So if you sell options contracts it would be smart to already own the shares, preferably in the money.

"out the wazoo" is about to be the next big saying on TikTok 😤😤 this was a solid explanation on options though and very beginner friendly! With everything, high risk can lead to high reward but it's all about risk tolerance and not using any money you're not comfortable losing. I'm digging this night time filming set up too 🔥

If you own 100 shares of a stock, you can write a covered call which is much less risky than an uncovered call

@@SeanLei I haven't taken that plunge yet, but I have a neighbor who has been writing covered calls for years now and he loves the strategy. He's been trying to convince me to try it out, and I might one day if I think I have a chance of beating the market with it. I've read that it's a low risk strategy that generally underperforms in a bull market, however it can beat the market in certain market conditions and with good stock picks

@@Connor8822 the current market is wild right now, but because of it it’s potentially great to make some 💰. Let me know if you decide to try covered calls! Would love to hear your experience with them

As a long-term investor, I'll stick to investing and not trading options!

Do you trade options or avoid them? Why or why not?

@Lorniac _ great reason to not trade options! The research and time required (you gotta watch the stock price frequently) is why I don’t either

At 17 years old you would not be able to trade with real money/ legally open a brokerage account in your own name. You must be 18 years or older in order to do so, at least in the U.S. However an alternative would be for you to have a trusted parent or guardian open a brokerage account in their own name, and then they could allow you to trade the money through their account instead until you are of legal age. The only drawback is that technically wouldn’t be in control of the money since the account is in your parent’s name, but at least you would be able to experience the thrill of trading with real money.
