In the Ancient Past as described by Tears of the Kingdom, the founding King and Queen rule over Hyrule. However, after certain events transpire, the Kingdom was vacated. Many fans within the Zelda community assumed Sonia and Rauru's child took the throne, but the problem with that, is they never had a child.
I hope you enjoy this theory which dives deep into Zelda lore to explain how the Goddess Hylia is the bridge between the founders of Hyrule, and the final Princess of Hyrule, Zelda.
