I just wanted come back to your channel to say thank you. Based on this video and a few other KZitemrs, I've purchased a Howa 308 20 inch heavy barreled action from Brownell and slapped it on KRG Bravo chassis. I couldn't be happier. With a factory HACT trigger, I was able to bring it down to a 1lb pull. Love the way the action is designed: smooth, durable, integrated recoil lug, bolt easy to disassemble. I'm so glad I did not go with the R700. I'm kinda of jealous how much aftermarket product the Tikka has over the Howa but it's only a matter of time. The Tikka is like a Beretta 92 (of course), and the Howa is like a Glock 19, better value and size efficient. Simple and does what a R700 should be doing.

very glad to hear. Howa won't be wrong. When your old barrel is worn out, you can buy a new barreled action and replace the trigger to be your original tuned trigger and put on your KRG stock. You got a new rifle for a fraction of the price you pay for others. reliable and accurate and cheap

Will Spence yes I feel howa was underrated and it is great on many aspects even better than many other more expensive rifles. Howa in Japanese is short for Toyota showa. It has some Toyota blood and design ideas. Cheap , Simple yet reliable.

Never had a Tika but I have various Howas and Weatherby Vanguards. These rifles are very accurate and very well made. My Howa 1500 243 doesn't care if it's a Remington or winchester 100 grain softpoint. This rifle doesn't need reloading for extreme accuracy. If you will wait for 15 minutes between shots, it'll poke a single jagged hole at 100 yards. These barrels need to cool and retract for optimum accuracy. Every single rifle from howa and Weatherby Vanguards are made in the same place in Japan. Excellent rifles.

Check out the Webley and Scott Empire, which is an enhanced Howa 1500 with a jeweled bolt, high gloss bluing, and both a Hogue stock and an Italian walnut stock for less than $500 here in the USA. The only caliber available is 30-06 though.

The Howa stock maybe a reasonably good hunting stock but, is well known not to be solid enough if you want competition rigidity. Regardless of the pillar bedding, the polymer simply doesn't dampen vibration enough to reduce groups repeatedly. I know, I've been there. The howa barrels also leave much to be desired if you want consistent 1/2" or better. Although the actions are worthy &, in my opinion superior to remington actions, the Howa 1500 is the absolute best hunting rifle in the world for the price. If you want 1/2 moa consistency, there's a bit to be done though Despite the shortcomings that you point out of the Tikka, they usually shoot slightly better than the Howa, off the shelf &, have a 70 degree bolt throw which, is preferred over the Howas' 90 degree although, the Howa bolt extension usually alleviates that issue. I will admit that, the Howa takes some beating when it comes to value for money &, in many other ways as well but, the Tikka is very close nowadays in price &, has just got that super refined feel &, out of the box consistency.

Rotas australis I felt the howa stock is bit less accurate because lack of cheek support. I tried to install a night force onto my howa 223 varmint and the accuracy dropped bit. But after replacing back to the old leupold low scope. While still using the howa original crap stock, The accuracy back to consistent 0.6moa. I figured it was the cheek support made the difference. Then I bought GRS and Boyd(pillar and glass bedding) the accuracy is amazing. I felt the howa is slightly more accurate. 0.5 is definitely possible for all howa varmints. I just bought another one from cleavers and waiting pta now. Haha. Now I have 3 howas

Rotas australis another thing worth to mention is howa’s bolt is extremely simple to strip and does not need any tool to strip. Very solid inside. Howa’s full name is Toyota Showa industry. It has some Toyota blood. Haha. Also it does not have any plastic parts inside. Recent models’ finish quality is also bit improved. The more I use it. The more I love it....

tikka is nicely finished. but in terms of engineering howa is the winner. Howa is not as nicely finished compare to tikka but HOWA is extremelly well thought and designed.

Not true. With a detachable magazine or floor plate, yes, a two position is okay. If it's a blind magazine, a 3 position safety is a great thing.

do you have any link for to purchase from, also i want your opinion between Howa 1500 heavy barrel vs Howa 1500 hogue vs savage 12fv. which one i should go with, i'm looking for accuracy in 223 rem

1500 heavy barrel will be more accurate but will be less convient to carry around. definately better than savage. when you buy the rifle talk to the shop they should be able to get you the GRS stock or other stocks.

A Howa barrel is more accurate than a Sako barrel from the factory...uhhhhhhhh what? when? lmao

I think sako tikka and howa's barrel are almost same grade on accuracy. accuracy is bit more depend on the weight of barrel. keep in mind. howa is toyota showa industry which makes lathe CNC milling eg and it is the Japan's millitary assult rifle maker.
@DeadLemonz

@@feicheng7022 by the same token, Sako has been making barrels/rifles that outshoot Howa's since M39's faced off against Arisakas. Howa's are awesome...super durable, very accurate and half the cost of Tikkas. But Tikka's are gonna be the better rifle if you're building a PRS gun.
@feicheng7022

@@DeadLemonz I felt the tikka's action is not well thought like howa does. howa is a unibody recoil lug. while tikka is a small piece aluminium for recoil lug. Howa has metal pillar and metal triger guard and tikka is just polymer or timber without pillar and the trigger guard is polymer. this will reduce the consistancy. Tikka is better finished. but howa is cheaper to build with more throughts. This is my understanding. I have seen many sako, tikka, howa in the range. Very similar accuracy.

@@feicheng7022 Everyone can have their opinion on this, I replace most of those things by putting the rifle in a chassis so these become non-issues. I will be buying a Howa to replace my Savage 10 instead of a Tikka though because it's more durable in the factory stock and I won't feel as bad scratching and dinging up a $400 rifle as I would a $800 rifle. Every good rifle has it's place.
