Good on him, strong character to stand up to the genuine racism back then.

To be honest HG has always had a chip on his shoulder.. when i played against for an opposing youth team (18 yr olds) and he was in his late 30s while (was getting game time following injury) for Blackburn, he was a bully and unimpressive skittish, to 18 yr olds! No respect for him!

Well, it certainly doesn't help Tommy Smith's legacy, that's for sure. But some things are too important to brush under the carpet - the incident has had a lifelong impact on Howard, so Tommy needs to suck it up and own it.

Naive comment, the romans being cruel is completely different to a young black lad going into a massive team being the only black player being called a black ni%@er mate . Liverpool in the 60s and 70s was bery racist . Rather than spout rubbish do some history

What are you yapping about, I bet that took all 3 of your braincells to dribble out didn't it? Yes, no shit things were worse back in the day, and? That doesn't mean we shouldn't continue improving, it's called progress mate. If the cavemen thought like you did we'd all still be banging rocks together...says a lot about you doesn't it?

What’s the point in this comment? How can he possibly reply to something you were told by someone else? Just admit to yourself that you don’t like him and you’re annoyed with the fact that he had the balls to stand up to Tommy Smith.
