the problem with the Wolfs music, or blues as whole is that afterwards everything else feels like childrens music

It is. In 1977 I was sixteen and ‘supposed’ to be into the music of my age group. The problem was that it was entirely fatuous. That’s not to say that weren’t some great things, there were. But by and large, blues and R&B spoke to me in a way punk did not. Blues is far heavier. The mood and sound of the records has far more depth and is incredibly dynamic. I have a son. By all accounts, the same dynamic is taking place.

Yup, that's it. I had the misfortune of getting a copy of this record when I was 13. All the classic rock/metal my friends were listening to sounded like derivative bs. I got over it (kind of), but yeah... this is the real thing.

My baby caught the train. Left me all alone. My baby caught the train. Left me all alone. She know I love her. She done me wrong. My baby bought the ticket long as her right arm. My baby bought the ticket long as my right arm. She say she gonna ride long as I been from home. Who's been talking everything that I do? Who's been talking everything that I do? Well you my baby I hate to lose. Goodbye baby, hate to see you go. Goodbye baby, hate to see you go. You know I love you. I'm the causing of it all. I'm the causing of it all.

At one time train tickets were printed for each consecutive stop in a long strip. The longer the trip, the longer the ticket. In the Wolf's case that was a long, long ride.

Yup. When I first heard this I was thirteen and had no idea what he meant. Several years later I was stranded on the west coast and my only way out was a Greyhound ticket back east. I then realized what that lyric meant.

Joe Einstien is one of the few people who have this right. Not exactly stolen but the tune and rhythm are so close as to be the same. Peter Green is so great and he or someone else should have given Howlin Wolf credit

I think "Black magic woman" came from Otis Rush's "all your love (i miss loving)" rhythmically its exactly the same, timing for the lyrics and how its sung is almost the same and it breaks into a blues shuffle directly after the solo with matching lyrics and then back to a rhumba beat. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sGme2Ip8r6qFmaA but even that songs main riff is a borrowed from Jodie Williams "lucky lou" so everyone was borrowing from everyone ahahha

@zekoe It's an E harp played in 1st position ... it's very simple, you'll figure it out in no time at all ... 2draw, 3draw(half step bend), 2draw, 3draw(half step bend), 4blow (maybe add hole 3 and 2 if you like) ... play this over and over. On the V chord replace the 4blow with a 4draw ... that's the basic idea of it.

@cliffordletsche1707

Yes, that is one of the enduring mysteries of this track. The most likely story is that it is a second harmonica. It could of course be a melodica, but the person playing would have to be a decent keyboard player, and it doesn't seem like there would be too many of those in Wolf's orbit - who would play uncredited and unpaid on a track. Who played that fluid and well intonated on a harmonica just sitting in? I think there are a few people to choose from.
