I reassemble the cleaned up parts of this engine. Here is a link to the page mentioned on the MECOA site on timing.

After this video I ran this engine for a total of about 25 minutes over the course of several short heat cycle runs. The bearings began to sound bad as their initial condition was masked by the grease applied to them by the PO. I have since disassembled this engine once again and I am installing new bearings.
On another design related note. The means of securing the rear pinion gear with a 'landing gear' looking metal strap and screws is quite poor. On this engine if the screws are tightened the pin on this gear is held too tight and does not allow the gear to move. This is either due to the strap being bad, the channel in the lower case for the shaft not being deep enough, or just a poor design. As such I have had to try to loctite the screws in a position that will hold the shaft but not allow the gear to bind. I have seen that these screws actually worked loose after my runs. Now they cannot come out completely but they loosen enough to cause excessive play and cause the oil inside the engine to be very dark due to the rubbing and misalignment of the gears. This is a very poor design.
