I would love to see a device like this with a Snapdragon 888 too, anything more powerful would help. And a 120hz screen. They apparently didn't support 120hz in the software of Chrome OS but that either changed already or is changing very shortly, so we should start to see some chromebooks with better refresh rates soon

I know I know! It said it would ship in 1-2 weeks, still hasn't shipped! Now it says it will ship in like 4 days, but again, somehow mine still hasn't shipped! Crazy to me. So we will see! I'll try to post a review as soon as I can! Honestly though, it's pretty simple to me. I expect the Duet 3 will be pretty neck and neck with this Chromebook x2. It will have a better keyboard than the X2, but it won't come with a stylus. The screen will have a lower resolution, but the Duet 3 will have a SLIGHTLY faster processor. So pretty neck and neck, but it's like $370 or $380 to get it with only 4 GB of RAM, and it will probably bee over $400 for awhile to get that 8 GB of RAM model, until it goes on sale. So depending on your preferences, you may prefer the 11" Duet over this HP, but it may not be the better value for a few months. But if you want a larger device, the 13" Duet 5 is already on sale for good prices and it's got a fantastic keyboard (and it's OLED). Pretty sure the 11" Duet isn't OLED, so the 13" has some good advantages. Long comment, but that's all I can do until I get it in my hands!

@@AndroidDigest (thanks for that.) As I said in a much earlier comment, I handled the X2 11 twice at my local Best Buy & I _do not_ like the undersized keyboard, which is caused by its 3x2 aspect ratio. While I didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time with new Duet (11in) overall I preferred this HP way over it. One thing I didn't notice mentioned are the front facing speakers I found impressive. In the end though, I would prefer the wider screen ratio, if anything to get a bit more keyboard width. While I use this more as tablet, and voice typing, the keyboard, and especially the trackpad --feels like glass!-- are impressive. And lastly, the fingerprint sensor I find a big plus.

@@gastroalchemy4499 The things I already mentioned above, and it's distinct processor seems advantageous for my usage. There may be more, but it has been some time since using a Duet. Voice typing is working really well like this post although I have a serious Indian accent! The form factor is brilliant for this kind of use. I bought the LTE version as it makes more sense. It has a slot for SD Card, in addition to the SIM in the tray. I definitely don't want it to be any bigger than it is as there is no need to stare at the screen all the time when dictating or typing! Unfortunately the ChromeOS dictation is not available in Libreoffice/ Linux - that would have made this tablet magical. Hope this will be enabled in future in ChromeOS.

I asked you about what should I buy( s8 or duet 5 or x2). Thanks for your valuable suggestion. In my country, s8 is $620. It’s in my budget and also a flagship tablet. So, it will support me a long time. But Chrome extension is also a need for me. Smooth note taking, better resolution and a good processor is my first priority . If you have any suggestion for 2 in 1 laptop or Chromebook in $650, it will be really helpful for me.
@AndroidDigest
6 ай бұрын
It is a little hard to give us suggestion just because prices are going to very much over there. The Acer spin 714 is probably my favorite Chromebook 2 in 1 at that price. A 2-in-1 will be a little bit easier to replace the battery or something if you need to. And you get a ton of updates on Chrome OS, and web extensions. Otherwise you're looking at going to windows. The Lenovo Duet 5i is a really good two-in-1, they had a lot of great sales on it here before it sold out. The keyboard is Bluetooth whenever you detach it from the laptop too. So that's really cool. But it might be hard to find. And it's not as repairable as far as things like the battery. You will find the same thing with the surface pros. Pretty much any tablet is going to be harder to replace the battery on versus a basic laptop. But I get you wanting something with web extensions. If you want that tablet form factor that's detachable, that's really just going to leave you with the duet 5i, or one of the Surface Pro devices. There may be some other third party brands I'm not aware of, but those are going to be the main models that will be good enough. And maybe where you live you might find a Surface Pro 7 or a 7+ new for a good price. They're just aren't any really powerful Chromebooks that can last for years and years at this price point. But in the us, if you go on the used market, you could buy a Lenovo Chromebook duet (the 2nd gen model) as low as $150 used. If you can find some on the used market there, you could always try it out. You just have to make sure not to buy the first gen model which looks a little different. But as of today, if you have to have web extensions, and you have to have a tablet, I would have to recommend you to Windows. If you don't mind having a two-in-one device, I would look for some good sales on the Acer Spin 714 or even the 713. Both of those devices are great.
@Dendrophiledandelions

Ok so, should I go for this or lenovo duet 5 or maybe s8 tablet? I'm quite confused. I need for digital notetaking which I wanna krep for at least 5to 6 years until I'm graduate. So, a good processor is a must. Also, I do watch a lot of movies. I need chrome extensions but I heard spen works so smooth for note taking. Is this capable enough? Lenovo duet 5 doesn't come with pen, that's a negative point. What should I buy? Any suggestion?
@AndroidDigest
6 ай бұрын
For one, just being completely honest, if you're trying to keep something for five or six years, chances are the battery will probably be really degraded after about 3 or 4 years. Especially if you're using it every day. So just keep in mind it will be a little tough to replace the battery in. something like that. Technically the tab S8 also has more power. The X2 and the duet are good, and they do have web extensions, and they will feel pretty fast overall for basic browsing and stuff. But they will feel a little bit slow especially because we are getting a really big bump in performance with newer tablets this year in the Chrome OS space. Chrome OS tablets do get way more updates. And they have web extensions. But you would have less power, the screen would be a lower refresh rate. There's just so many factors there. To be honest and realistic, if you're talking about having a device that long, you may be looking at the wrong price point. If you really really want to be satisfied years down the line you might want to get something like a Tab S9 or wait for a higher powered chrome os tablet. Otherwise, you will still get really really good devices you're going to enjoy today. But just keep in mind there are a lot of pros and cons. Like you mentioned. Better spen, better refresh rate on the S8, the Chrome OS tablets will have better keyboards in my mind, they come with keyboards, they have better updates and web extensions. So it's a lot of give and take. Hard for me to tell you what to do with that many variables. I normally don't respond a second time to comments, I just get so many to keep up with, so feel free to start a new separate comment with any other questions

This works fine on a lap. The test to show the clicks is not accurate, if you do that on your lap, the clicks from bending the keyboard does not result in an actual mouse click, it's just a sound. It's a great device
@AndroidDigest
Жыл бұрын
True and untrue. If you have your finger on the touchpad when those accidental clicks happen, it will actually click. So there are some times that it will result not just in a physical sound but also a click on the screen too. But you are right that most of the time hearing the click will not result in a touch on the screen. So many people can still use this on their lap. It's just not as IDEAL for lap use. Overall I do agree with you though. It's a great device especially for the prices people can find it for

I like ChromeOS, specifically Chromebooks, but am unsure and not really sold on ChromeOS tablets yet. I mean as extra functionality they are lost due to the compromises of the floppy keyboard. As a specific tablet, Android and iPadOS are far ahead in terms of usability for a tablet-based workflow that they are not really in the game. So for me, I would see this as a flawed device and I see why HP are selling it cheap as demand is very low. I would suggest a Matepad 11 that costs £450 and includes pen, keyboard and free £100 BT speaker. That runs on HarmonyOS and is running on a faster SD865 with 120Hz and a glorious display. The SD 7c is slow for anything that is more than basic usage. So even at this price, the X2 would not be on my Top 10 shortlist.
@AndroidDigest

I can understand why you would say that, and everyone is different. I see the flaws in Chrome OS. I will say that the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 has a much better keyboard, and Chrome OS, even with it's bugs, it has a lot of benefits over other operating systems. I love the flexibility I have to go between android apps and get a FULL desktop version of Chrome. As a google drive and google docs user, and someone who does a lot of work in Chrome, and as someone who even has passwords saved in Chrome, I'd rather stay in Chrome or Android personally. But everyone is different, there are still big issues with Chrome OS tablets, no doubt. Hopefully we can get some better software and some detachable devices with better hardware!
