These are now selling as like-new refurbished units, for around $440 USD...fantastic value. I concur with everything said in this excellent review...this is a GREAT ultrabook and a superb value now as a refurb. I used a Dell universal dock through the Type-C connection and was able to run two monitors with sound, flawlessly...just plug and play and the drivers auto loaded. Who needs Thunderbolt?!! However, even though the specs call for charging through the Type-C port, and I could do so with the included Type-C AC charger, the dock did not charge it and I have to use the other barrel connector charging port while it's docked. I even tried a Type-C adaptor for ethernet and HDMI and the HDMI worked very well, haven't tried ethernet yet.. So, a $17 adaptor can add the ports you need (also added 3 USB and SD card reader, although the notebook already has a microSD reader. Great sound and a nice solid metal chassis with no heat issues, even after streaming non-stop movies for a solid 8 hours before the battery died. Very, very nice notebook. Mine had i5 and 8 GB RAM (256GB SSD) and it does all I need it to, although I don't do any video editing, photoshopping, gaming, etc. Screen not the brightest, but perfect for indoors. Keys could have more contrast between markings and key itself; but, backlight helps remedy that. Very happy with mine, especially at the refurb price.

They both go for 999 Euros. IO is not that important for me (i don't need USB C Thunderbolt) as I only use USB A of which both only have one. So that's a tie for me. And the 360º hinge is nice but i wouldn't use it at all as i don't use the pen. (I'm a student). Plus, I love the color burgundy and in general the surface laptop design (much more than the one on the hp). The surface Laptop has my favorite keyboard in any Laptop.
