Absolutely fantastic. I was fortunate enough to meet Gerry a number of times - simply remarkable driver and character... especially when he had had a few drinks. He shall be greatly missed in the racing world.

I was there with my wife Carole and we were on our honeymoon. It was a fantastic race meeting with Formula 5000 topping the bill. The relaxed atmosphere and accessibility of all the drivers and cars was delightful.

This race must involve a significant proportion of HP Firenza production!!

My very first car, a yellow 1972 Firenza (EPP 898K). Watching this made me miss it.

I only ever spoke to Gerry once, at Goodwood a year or so before he died, but I must have watched several dozen of his races from the 1970's onwards. An amazing character, with literally hundreds of race wins! I had forgotten how green everything looked in 1974, ha ha! But I have never forgotten how much more fun saloon car racing was then, before aerodynamics ruined the spectacle.

Mind you a droopsnoot's transmission whines under any driving conditions :) Not exactly the most refined of cars but very strong and fun to drive.
