At approximately 3:12 in the video you unplug and remove a yellowish cable. What is the purpose of that cable? The dv6700 I'm working on doesn't have one!

Thanks a'lot for this video, there really is no need for explanation just observation, thanks to this video I gutted both, my AMD and Intel dx6000 in order to fix my AMD laptop, next time I'm going to open her up again, so i can apply thermal compound. Once again, thank you!

@arkasza2007 I would suggest to disassemble the fan and clean it with a tooth brush. This way you make sure it is really clean and you can add new thermal paste on it. Another way you can clean your fan is with a air duster. This way you blow out the dust with compressed air. Make sure you use only compresses air without any oil or someting like that in it. And do not use an compressor because it is too strong. Search for air duster on google or youtube and you will find some more info.

@laptopersatzteile24 Thanks. Makes sense now. May I ask another question or two about this particular model? The problem with it is that pressing the power button makes the lights blink for a second, but that's about it. It won't even POST, much less boot. I know it could be a million things, but is there anything this model is known for?

My second question: I need to extract data from the HD, but the connector doesn't look like the typical SATA connectors I'm familiar with. It has 22 "pins" (tangs, actually. 7 for power and 15 for data?). I need an adapter or enclosure for this drive. What should I be looking/asking for?

@laptopersatzteile24 Thanks. But this one doesn't offer any beep codes at all. Just blinks for a second after hitting the power button, then nothing.

That would be great but I think will not happen. Look at the new Ultrabooks. The get thinner and thinner. Thats the reason why everything has to be on one board. And I think you won´t see GPU´s in the future in a Laptop because e.g. intel built faster and faster GPU´s into their CPU´s. And these are even now fast enough for desktop applications. It is cheaper to use a single CPU/GPU than two different devices. And even now you find Laptops with soldered Ram. It would be nice but it wont happen

@blumuze2 It does not offer a beep code at all time. sometimes the malfunktion is to heavy so that the laptop can´t boot. In this case it can´t give any beep codes. As I said I can´t locate the failure from here. But it seems to be something with your mainboard. To know it exactly you have to go to a specialized repair shop where they can test it.

@blumuze2 the HD from a DV6000 is a normal Sata HD. What you mean is probably the adapter between HD an Mainboard. You have to remove this adapter. After removing the adapter you will see that it is a normal SATA HD

Well, ihaveadv6000. Looks just like yours.but after messing with the top plastic i had todo 3 more things. I had to remove 2 nuts. Then i had to remove the hardrive adapter so that i could get the main board out. Last ,the cooling fan with the copper heat sink was nothing like yours. I had one tube and your had two. Odd. Must be a canadian machine. Either way you helped me dig into it quick despite being a tech guy for 15 years

@DroppedStudios Please watch our video carefully. If you take out all screws as we have shown in this video you should be able to take out the palmrest. Its hard to say which screw you forgot. But maybe you forgot to take out the hexagon head screws near the wlan card.

Dear Sir, thank you for your help. Extremely clear. Is this procedure apply also to de HP HDX18T-1200? My display goes off after 30" in whenever condition (boot, init, or normal work). So look like I need to change inverter first or the entire screen. Thanks a lot.
