Heat recovery systems (HRV's) are a great way to maintain a fresh air environment in your home while retaining much of the heat that might otherwise be lost . HRV's have an achilles heel though. In our experience many home owners simply turn them off as they become ineffective which is a huge waste of the capital investment made in the system. The most common reason we find for under performing HRV's is air leakage i.e. if your building is leaking in air then the HRV system quickly becomes useless and ineffective. So what to do? Air tightness of your building membrane is vital and our Fusion Spray Foam is one of the best ways to ensure your building retains heat while also greatly reducing air leakage and random air changes . Spray foam can be installed very quickly often in less than a day . Here in this video I am spraying a portion of the roof to demo how foam works (yes , the boss, occasionally does some spray foaming . Hey, after all I wouldnt ask anyone to do something I wasnt prepared to do myself ! ) . To the left of the frame you will see a HRV duct which I encase in our open cell breatheable foam . This foam will hold the duct in place for life and never sag of sink so your investment retains its value for the life of the building. Amazing !
