This was the most clear cut explanation for a novice ! Most tutorials expect some type of background knowledge like its easy as 123 but this hit the target audience for sure

What makes the browser put a box around the picture and NOT show the image? I have the code written EXACTLY as it shows in your tutorial vodeo. Yes, I did switch out pictures, but why should that make any difference?

Again, I am seeing your image dimensions in blue below the filename of your jpgs in the finder. Is this a plugin of some sort? I'd really like to know how to have the dimensions displayed and Google is coming up short for me at the moment. Thanks.

Being new at this I'm a bit confused. At 4:08 you say that absolute paths "wouldn't work for an image, unfortunately", but then you show that example, don't you? Or am I missing something?
@ryanmcconkey5817
6 жыл бұрын
Katapraktoi Swe he said it wouldn't work because the absolute path that he copied had his index.html file instead of an image , then he pasted in an absolute path with an actual image for it to work. In layman's terms an absolute path to an image will always work. :)

if ../ is going one level up, how do I go 2 levels or 3 levels up??
@QuentinWatt
4 жыл бұрын
For this tutorial. ../ is 1 up ../../ 2 up ../../../ 3 up And so on. Although sometimes it's just better to reference things from the root directory. So just start with the slash, and go from there. Not to be confusing, but: Some people set up an alias for the main directory. You can see this if you work with a Vue CLI project, where they make an alias for the "src" directory as "@"

It's an essential concept that you have to understand or you won't be able to link to files in future. Many people who go wrong in my "images", "videos", and "audio" tutorials always fail with this concept and that's where their mistakes are.
