What is the exact model of the lathe? Does it any beat/bad vibrations with installation of comm 'as is', without wires removal? Thank you)

+SumskoyMike Any armature can be trued up as-is, you don't have to unwind the magnetic coils. I did that because I was going to be rewinding it anyway. This is just the Hudy Advanced Comm Lathe. There is also the Hudy Tech Comm Lathe that comes with a slightly different layout and some extra accessories. I'd also recommend looking for the Bearing support guides as the plastic clips don't last very long.

f.y.i. that lathe will run best and last the longest if you run it at around 5v. 7.4v (8.4v fully charged) is way faster than needed.

+Daniel smith Yeah, I'm well aware of the recommended Voltage to run this on. With the bigger armatures, the AA batteries Hudy recommend cannot provide enough current and I do not have a powerful enough variable voltage PSU. I'll eventually get around to sorting something out but for now, it runs just fine on a half charged 2-cell LiPo. A little graphite grease on the armature helps reduce the heat buildup on those ridiculous V-Slot stands. I was very lucky to find a place that still stocked the BBG left stand and adjustable BBG right stand :)

nice upgrade on the BBG's. Have you considered a castle creations 10 amp b.e.c. There voltage comes directly from up to 6s lipo, and can be adjusted down to as low as 5v.

+Daniel smith Cheers :) I really couldn't understand why Hudy released the BBG guides at the same price as the V-Slot ones. Their statement that they perform the same so the BBG ones weren't needed (and therefore have been discontinued) is absolutely false. Maybe they just couldn't be bothered producing the more complicated setup. That's exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for! My electronics knowledge is still pretty basic, so thanks for the suggestion :)

Have you ever fitted a ptw core in that.? Have the same lathe but will not fit ptw

I've modded mine to accept the longer PTW armatures. The slot for the motor stand has been extended to the left and I use a shim to match the angle. I've also upgraded the axle clips to the bearing versions, which I'd highly recommend doing for Airsoft motors. I've found the larger axles tended to overheat the V-Slot supports with the plastic clips. Just be sure to keep the bearings clean :)

my guess is that after spending the rather high price for there lathes most people just couldn't see spending even more on the BBG's. I still run mine with the V guides lubed with corrosionX, but maybe I don't know what I'm missing. My experience with comm lathes comes from the rc rock crawler side of brushed motors. I run a castle b.e.c. in every crawler I own. they are a must when running high voltage servos. Keep in mind you will either have to have it pre-programmed by whoever you purchase it from, or buy a castle creations pc interface board to change the output voltage.

Man motors don't cost much money. All that work for a 40-100$ motor. My god......

Sure, it’s overkill for a single motor but when you’re modifying dozens per week, the cost-per-unit soon diminishes to pennies.
