@SigFigNewton

@@bratwurstbratbeauftragterb220 AWS has lost cloud market share to both Microsoft and Alphabet every single quarter for the last couple of years. If AWS is winning this race, it’s because they had the foresight to get a massive head start. If one company grows at a hyper consistent 10% per year and another at 10.00001% per year, it doesn’t matter how much bigger the first company is… eventually it will be the smaller company. Like traits in a species with a tiny little advantage over alternative traits. Eventually, on evolutionary time scales, virtually every member of that population will have the beneficial trait. I’m elaborating because I’ve encountered people who don’t understand that AWS can grow revenue by a larger number than its competitors grow their revenue each quarter and still be losing market share. Interesting to try to figure out whether it’s more reasonable to expect relative absolute growth amounts to be more constant, or relative rates of growth. AWS bulls would of course argue the former
