Thanks for the great review. I have the SVS prime wireless pro speakers and I am blown away by the clarity detail and just the overall sound: 4 class D amps, in a tidy black box, that seem to work magic. I ordered this sub, as opposed to rel or kef, because I want more of that sound - detailed, balanced, but fully capable of a punch in the gut.

Nice review Chris. I had the SVS SB1000 in my stereo system and 6 months later they came out with the SVS SB1000 Pro. You can trade up within one year, so I contacted SVS, sent pictures they requested and ordered two SB1000 Pro subs. The app makes setting up two subs so easy from my listening position.

Update: I bought two SVS 3000 Micro subs in their outlet store for $620 each plus 5% off for buying dual subs. Both subs had a minor scratch, but are barely visible. Very impressed with the power, bottom end and speed compared to the SVS SB1000 Pro. Moved one 1000 Pro to the garage stereo system.

Good review. I have a Hsu Research 10 in sub, supplied with a 250 watt amp, since 1998. It goes down flat to 25Hz. More than once, my wife has complained that it has rattled the dishes in the kitchen. It has no software, and is basically pug and play. I've never ad the need to readjust the level for different records or sources. Proper use of a sub, requires careful integration into your system, and should not call attention to itself. A sub, should NOT be used as a bass control. Inasmuch, as most music, doesn't have any extremely low bass, you should be unaware of the sub's presence, most of the time. When the really low bass is on the source, that is the only time, you should notice the sub.

Easy to say... I enjoy the visceral physicality of a good sub, but, it occurs to me, only when I'm alone. Otherwise, I play nice.

I'm with you. At one point in my life I had custom DJ speakers built for my amp. Each cabinet had 2 15inch woofers. One 4 x 10 horn midrange. 5 Motorola tweeters. They were on wheels and covered in a material that I guess was okay to put a drink down on and just wipe it off. Fast forward I grew up and learned totally unnecessary, Over kill and got me in a world of trouble with nabors.

I couldn't go without a sub. When I were a lil nipper my dad had a prologic setup so I've gotten very atuned to bass. I currently have a Rel T5x on a high level input off the amps speaker terminals, this sounds a lot better than just using the RCA. I also have two of the low profile Yamaha subs under the computer desk. These aren't too great but good enough for flight sim and general gaming.

I use a sub woofer on a two channel system, and it does work out well for me. I thought that I want to look into is putting a sound bar on my computer for watching DVDs in 5.1. If adding a sound bar to a PC is do-able. That might sound rather out of context a comment on this particular subwoofer discussion. It comes from the fact that the 2.1 system is on my computer, and my turntable is attached to my computer via the audio input jack.

You use a normal “RCA” cable for subwoofers. You can buy a wireless kit from SVS for $120 more. A little box plugs in on the back and another box to your tv or receiver so you dont need a cable.

Not much output overt 90dB. SB2000 Pro at same $900 has better performance, if you can handle the extra size/weight.
@thevinylattack
Жыл бұрын
Why are you listening over 90dB?
@WWeiss-nv5vz
Жыл бұрын
Usually 80- 85dB but sometimes with electronic music I'll push it up for a track or two. I am very aware of my hearing health and actually use a dB meter next to me when listening. I have both the Micro and the SB3000 and the extra headroom of the SB3000 is a factor people should be aware of when choosing size over performance.@@thevinylattack

Your sub $3000.00. My sub $40.00 10 inch Polk Audio from an SPCA Thrift Store. Hmmmmmm. I Like good sound but you audiophile guys are just crazy. I'm sure it sounds AMAZING but not $2,960.00 more amazing. Nice channel though. I just watched about 10 of your videos. The only what I would call "expensive" you would call probably entry level thing I own is my $280.00 AT cartridge. Bought it specifically for it's tracking abilities. I HATE INNER GROOVE DISTORTION! Now I don't have to hear it. I do need to get one of those anti static gizmos though. SUBBED!
