What rod are you using and do you cast with it or kayak out your baits? Don’t know what to get for inshore shark fishing as I’ll need to cast

I'm all about fishing but what you're doing is just irresponsible. There's no point fishing for shark. Stresses the animal that's already approaching endangered levels. I'm not some tree-hugging PETA wako, but I am a waterman and respect the ocean and understands the shark issue.

RED S7VN Hey Red, welcome to the channel and I respect your viewpoint. Give me a few minutes and I’ll give you a response on why we do what we do when it comes to sharks. You may be surprised to learn we are closer in thought than you think.

RED S7VN just a caveat up front my response will be sporadic as I’m a bit busy today, but you bring up a pressing issue in the community and I would love to have a discussion if you are willing? First, I’d like to get your perspective on a couple things. You say you support fishing but not for sharks. So when you fish do you catch and release or keep your fish to eat? (There is no wrong answer I’m just trying to understand your overall viewpoint)

I think you are confused on the “endangered” list of sharks as it pertains to domestic and international. Our sharks that we have here on our coasts are not enandangered. They are all regulated by NOAA and other agencies to make sure we aren’t decimating an entire species. Additionally the stress on the shark is a poor argument to make against shark fishing because if the release is done correctly it has zero effect on the shark. There are multiple studies confirming this. You can go on NOAAs website at any time and check out the “domestic stock status” to look at any fish that is potentially endangered. It is updated yearly.

@@zacharychavez267 actually globally sharks are endangered 90% of the global shark population is gone. a few of the shark species listed on here have actually been caught on this channel and as you can see I'll give you the links. Shark reproduction, even at its best, can’t keep pace with shark deaths. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the list of endangered shark species is surprisingly long; among approximately 470 species of sharks, 2.4% are listed as ‘Critically Endangered’, 3.2% ‘Endangered’, 10.3% ‘Vulnerable’, and 14.4% ‘Near Threatened’. 28% of shark species are endangered. It serves no purpose to catch these fish to stress these fish just throw them back into the ocean in this state for nothing more than glorified Machoism. oceanscubadive.com/most-endangered-sharks-in-the-world/ I have no problem with somebody going after a fish that they plan to eat that is sustainable. Go catch red drum go catch flounder go catch sea trout but there serves just no purpose in catching shark. With your mentality no it's no big deal because the species are endangered well what if they do become

You are talking about international. You are talking about something that doesn’t have anything to do with what we are doing. International and domestic reporting of fisheries are NOT the same. The hammerheads that we catch here on our shores are not the same hammers that are caught in Asia and being finned for human consumption. That can be validated through GPS trackers that NOAA has been watching for years and years. If the blacktips and other species of sharks were endangered in domestic waters then we wouldn’t be able to harvest them. But we can. So they aren’t. Every single fish we have is regulated by someone and endangered and “overfished” species are updated anually. None of this information is hard to find it’s all on NOAAs website and provided by marine ecology biologists as well as fishery biologists. If we catch a lemon shark, we handle it respectfully and release it with extreme caution to ensure the shark goes on its way healthy. With that being said, it’s proven that a responsibly released shark will not have any change in its feeding habits, migration patterns, or reproduction. Blood samples have been taken after a long fight and showed that if given time to push water through its gills and regain its strength, that there is no negative impact on the shark. You can push international statistics all day long but at the end of the day, there is a MAJOR difference in domestic and international shark fisheries. I would give you links for all of this but every single one of these facts can be found on NOAAs website or by talking to one of the biologists that work there
