Жыл бұрын
I absolutely love it! I don't understand the hate at all. People loved the hell out of Elder Scrolls and Fallout, I don't understand the sudden shift.
@pagatryx5451
Жыл бұрын
@@daycejohnson It's not really a sudden shift. Skyrim and Fallout 4 are pretty divisive and the issues they have is even worse in Starfield. That being the complete lack of creativity and solid writing to make the world and quests engaging. Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout NV are the loved games of the franchises. And many have issues with Oblivion for how it simplified mechanics. Starfield also suffers from the lack of real exploration in an interconnected world due to the absence of real space travel and reliance on fast traveling. So for the people who might have loved Skyrim and Fallout will be disappointed in Starfield due to the fact they can't properly immerse themselves in its world due to the reliance on teleporting between places. I care less about the travel thing (though it's disappointing) and more about the mundane writing and setting. A problem made worse with Starfield is it's a fresh IP. Elder Scrolls and Fallout have all the groundwork from older games to prop up the worlds of the newer ones. No matter how bad they were, they still retained the same factions and contributed to the lore. While Starfield had to establish its universe with Starfield. And yeah, they didn't do a very good job. It's an incredibly generic sci-fi universe. Honestly, Cyberpunk 2077 is the game that came closest to the enjoyment I got from Morrowind and Fallout NV. It's very similar mechanically to a Bethesda game, just with less emphasis on its sandbox, and more on world design and writing. The main quest of Cyberpunk is one of the best from gaming in years. While Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield's are all just very shallow experiences, incredibly linear for an 'RPG', and really just an obstacle in the way of the sandbox. About as buggy too...

But him saying he *hates* mr beast over something that isn't entirely his fault is definitely asking for trouble and spiteful. And yes the algorithm promotes content that works so by making more videos mr beast maintains a positive feedback loop that promotes his video style to the detriment of others, but what is he supposed to do, just stop making videos, start making worse videos? No, the algorithm promotes money making videos, if we dont like mr beastification i guess the problem is with KZitem and the fact they have to make some money

I feel like this is worth pointing out. If a reputable reviewer gives a game a really good review, its not impossible that they looked past one bug and genuinely enjoyed the story. I don't think there is anything any game dev can do for most people to be happy, it has to be 100% perfect, and even then not everyone would be happy. I know my gaming opinions don't match everyone else's typically, but this much hate for this game? I was super critical before I played it thinking I wouldn't like it and I enjoyed my whole play through of it, didn't take the infamous 12 hour mark to do that either. Is it really that bad and unenjoyable for you guys? Is a 5 second loading screen to travel 7 solar systems away too much? Some of these complaints are wild to me

I was surprised to see how much hate it got from Pyro. There's even stuff said about it that were factually incorrect, too. I guess it's because he only played it for about 12 hours, but still.. it's weird seeing some of the strange criticism being thrown here. Multiple load screens? Just travel through the quest menu. Walking for 10 minutes on an empty planet feels boring? This can be applied to any game in this genre. Just try doing it in No man's sky and I don't see anyone criticizing that. Can't walk across a planet because the maps are segmented? Even if they weren't (also, it's literally impossible to make 1 planet with multiple fun things to do in every 10min walk you take. Let alone 1000 planets like that), it's not the point of the game. It's an RPG, not a space sim. Again. I don't see anyone criticizing TLOU2 for not having RPG mechanics This is just some of the weird criticism from Pyro, and it's sad because he's been my favorite reviewer for years. The way he attacked Gmanlives only because he liked Starfield is just so out of place, especially from him, someone who likes and reviews niche games that aren't for everyone. Just bizarre...
@pagatryx5451
Жыл бұрын
@@aliaborez3987 sigh* *"Just travel through the quest menu.":* Teleporting exactly where you want to go all the time is boring as hell. People want a world to explore and immerse themselves in. Not a teleporting simulator. They want to be able to walk through a door naturally, not teleport inside. Asking for less loading screens is very legitimate and likely a result of console limitations. I long for the day they include a setting to change the quantity of loading screens on PC. Mods will do it eventually. *"This can be applied to any game in this genre. Just try doing it in No man's sky and I don't see anyone criticizing that.":* Because in No Man's Sky you have ground vehicles, you can also fly and land anywhere. You also have far more things to do and find on planets to make exploration worthwhile and engaging. Starfield went for a more 'realistic' take, and that would be fine if interesting exploration wasn't a major part of Bethesda's games. They would have been better off going for an Open World more akin to Destiny (in size and world design) and just making small maps on planets that are hand crafted, high effort, and full of stuff to do. Fully explorable planets was just a marketing gimmick that was poorly fleshed out, wasn't possible with their engine, and wasn't beneficial to the type of game they were going for. *"it's not the point of the game (to walk naturally around a planet). It's an RPG, not a space sim.":* Firstly, walking naturally around a planet isn't a genre requirement. It would benefit any openworld game that allows planetary explanation. Space Engineers, a space sandbox game allows for it. And I'd argue Starfield (and more most modern Bethesda titles) is FAAAR more of a sandbox than an "RPG". Something it claims to be, but really isn't. Secondly, this was something specifically marketed by Tod Howard and Bethesda. If it's not the point of the game, they shouldn't have promoted being able to traverse entire planets without including that caveat. I'm definitely not a fan of Pyro and I think his reviews are ass personally. I also think there are plenty of more significant things to criticize about Starfield, but his criticism was definitely not 'weird'. GMan is also not a particularly good reviewer. I watch his reviews, and enjoy them, but he's a very subjective and emotional critic.
