Locals have told me that a sink hole has opened up above the 110 year old Thingdon underground Ironstone mine of Finedon, Northamptonshire. I head up the hill to investigate to find one massive hole in a field. Over time the land water has moved through the soil and through the underground caverns. Since this mine is older than the rest in the area, the tunnels area not of decent build quality as such mines as Irthlingborough Mines (EBBW Vale). Leading to cave-ins all over this piece of land over the decades past.
This is the very reason why Housing developers can NOT build here. Alan Pack was a mine inspector for the area and had written off a huge report as to why developers can not build here. he also has an epic website with all the information one could ever wish for on the area.
