Lol great work and I'm glad you didn't spend too much time making it look like a table that would go in a home, it won't be long before it's marked, bashed, chipped, and glue stained. I reckon it will last a year before the first saw cut and then for the rest of your life you will use it as it should be, a table that has chisel cuts, paint marks, if it ever gets too bad you can always take a few mil of the top. From my own experience, a shelf is far better than draws and compartments and make life/work far quicker, for small tools magnetic tool holders are fantastic and work as they should.

Kris, instead of drilling more holes on the vice, why don't you make a 'block' with 3 pegs in, to fit into the holes you already have, that way, it should cover most situations 👌

Great stuff. Found you channel today, im off grid too. Really impressed with what youve done and your enthusiasm. I would normally be the last to say anything about safety, but when you use that surfacer i get visions! It's my trade and ive spent many hours on such machines. My boss lost the ends of his fingers via a distraction. Please make yourself a push stick and bring the fence up closer. I understand if you tell me to f off, but I only have your best.... I have an old 3 phase muli machine I got many years ago that im yet to install, didnt think I would ever do so, but your system has given me inspiration. Best wishes.

Kris - Very nice work. It will be around for years to come. The place is looking more like a work shop with the addition of tools and the workbench. The idea of drawers under the workbench is a good one. Your tools will be handy and a place for storage so you can find them easy. I'm very impressed with your work.

Collect all the wood chippings/sawdust and put them in the part of the chicken coop where they lay their eggs. They love a nice warm and dry area to lay eggs, but it also soaks up all the chickenshit/chickenpee, so your eggs come out clean. ;-) So what's the plan for the shed when the man cave/workshop/garage gets finished?

My work benches have been made 1/4" too low then I can put a sheet of 1/4" MDF or Plywood top on it. That way they have an easy to replace, automatically level, disposable top. That way when the table surface is too damaged, I just put a new table top on it instead of having to replace the whole table.

A lovely table - congratulations ! We made one half the size of that, in 1960. Ours differed in that it was designed to disassemble, so everything was joined by coach bolts, with diagonals across the sides and back rather than horizontals ( a triangle is apparently a strong way of getting sturdiness ? ). We were doing much lighter work... In the end, we sold the bench with the house 35 years later, so it never was disassembled ! It must be a lovely smell from the newly-planed wood ? Wishing you an enjoyable holiday, with some of your home-made brew that you might still have ? All the best !
