As a real French who studied English at college I have to say that this translation is amazing even a French would translate this as well as Hugh Laurie ! And his accent is definitely breathtaking!!!

I love how he says, "Yes, Dame" (as in Dame Helen Mirren) rather than any other title or endearment (ma'am, et al). It was respectful and hilarious, especially after her admonishment to "read it properly this time". I adore Hugh Laurie.

@Orinturify : Do you speak French? Because it's really funny as he didn't know the french word for winnowing he just said it but with a French accent. And then he translated a whole phrase ("literally hundreds... to meager list of just five") into just "poof, cinq". Otherwise, his French is superb. I simply adore Hugh Laurie!

The very small type of fish is a Minnow with an M, like the Minnow nations in Rugby. Winnowing is a method of separating grain from chaff when harvesting wheat. In this case they were separating the grain of the good actors from the chaff of the lesser actors.

I seriously LOVE Hugh Laurie and Helen Mirren. Terrific actors and wonderfully funny here. I don't know if Hugh Laurie can really speak any French, though based on the way he is speaking you get the idea he doesn't really speak French. What I love even more is that Helen Mirren is actually fluent in French. (One press conference post an awards show she answered a question in fluent French. AWESOME! You think she can't seem hotter than she already is, but you're wrong!)
