Our presenter, Helene Lake-Bullok, PhD, discusses the federal regulations pertaining to Human Subjects Research and the different types of review for Human Subjects protocols. You’ll be introduced to the regulatory definitions and become familiar with the different review mechanisms. This presentation is for faculty planning to conduct human subjects research and staff should they assist with human subjects research protocol applications. Dr. Bullock is an Assistant Vice President for Research and Research Integrity at the University of Kentucky and a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

• Identify if research involves human subjects based on the regulatory definition.
• Determine whether a project is non-exempt human subjects research under the Common Rule.
