I met Steve once in N.Y.C. at a place called Privates.Humble Pie were opening for Aerosmith.Thats when Joe Perry was in hiatus from the band.I passed Steve in the front of the stage before they played.I stopped him and greeted him.He treated me like an lifelong friend. He invited me to the Pies dressing room to smoke a part of a left over joint that he showed me.I said sure.I told him that about how much I had admired his work..Well I got bombed out of my mind and he asked me if I wanted to meet Aerosmith. I saw them down in the other dressing room. They weren't doing so well at that time,so I declined. I'll never forget that experience, Like I said He was so humble and kind.He treated me like I was the most important person there. He'll always be in my heart. What a great talent and generous human being..And great set they played. And what a voice!!!..Thank you forver my brother Steve Marriott...You're always in my prayers...

Humble Pie w/ Peter Frampton is the definition of synergy - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. All the best bands are like that.

“ stand-in for Dirk Bogarde” Sir Dirk Bogarde was initially a matinée idol, He later acted in art house films, evolving from "heartthrob to icon of edginess". Sounds like exactly what Steve was trying to do. Move past his teen idol, heartthrob image. “Tom Mix stand in” He was Hollywood's first Western star and helped define the genre as it emerged in the early days of the cinema.

What a great band Pie were . Heavy , Funky , Soulful , bluesy ,rock and roll propelled by the powerful and distinct vocals of Steve one of the great British singers . Saw them at Hyde Park in '71 supporting Grand Funk and although Funk were good Humble Pie were far , far better . Listen to their albums .
