"Some of you disregarded the fast, and that was stupid. You should repent and move on." Spoken like a loving father. Holy Orthodoxy is truly a healthy faith☦

If I understood his talk, the second quality of a humble person is to put aside all bad temper... calling people stupid... well, the father may need to assess how well he is doing on this quality... personally, I am terrible at it.

Humility is the robe of divinity. The son and word of God, our Jesus Christ, wore this garment to come to live here on earth and interacted with people. Humility was his garment and humbleness was his life. It was through humility, that he covered both his divinity and his glory. Whoever chooses to wear this robe of humility, dresses like Christ. The humble man is loved by all. A humble man is treated and respected in a saint-like manner. Even wild beasts, do not bother or mangle the humble man. The lives of saints provide a fine example of this, and people, whoever they are, greatly honour humility. Because the Lord loves the humble man, no one hates, rebukes or condemns him. People find rest particularly amongst those that love them, and God rests among the humble. Unfortunately, people don’t love humility and they don’t wish to humble themselves. By not wishing to exercise humility, they don’t want to be loved by the Lord, and by loving pride, they become like Satan. - St Paisios

I am just a foolish mortal. I am full of sin and give into temptation everyday. My flesh is weak and my soul is guilty. Lord, through your grace, have mercy upon me. Amen

Great insight on the virtue of humility. I realized I need to learn more about St John of Sinai. As a Catholic I have a deep appreciation for Orthodoxy and its saints. God bless.

3 Properties according to St. John. 1st. Takes great pleasure in indignities. 2nd. The humble person has put aside all bad temper and in its place humility settles. 3rd. The humble person distrusts his good qualities and constantly wants to learn.

Hi Father Josiah Trenham! I would like to ask how we orthodox differ from catholics on this matter of humility. I mean is there something at the pope's doctrines or their tradition that makes people be proud of what they are and do? Thank you!
