Funny story - I was looking for some "Askja River crossing" videos, and found this one. Just 4 days ago, I was crossing the very same river with rental Hummer H3 as well, and now I stare at the nameplate "MM - 701". I am like WHAT???? It's the SAME car I have been driving! The river was a bit deeper now, because the current pushed us to a side for few seconds, but as long as we were able to touch the bottom of the river, we got to the other side. Amazing experience, awesome video!

@WilliamCharlesRamez Hi William, I don't know exactly but I think about 20". Later the same day we crossed a deeper river with a strong stream. I think it was about 30" but we weren't so brave to cross it back and film! :)

@marcomi66 - too bad you weren't able to film the 30" deep river.. that would've shut some hummer naysayers mouths..

hi marcomi66! do you happen to know approx how deep the water was? i'm trying to convince myself that the H3 could do more water fording than its stated average 24" capacity. Thanks and Great video by the way!

Next time just keep it to the undeep part of the river, some 5 meters more to the left (from drivers point of view) and the film would have been rather boring to watch: the river is not deep there.

@dmfcnl Thanks for the hint: I guess you are quite used to cross Icelandic rivers :)
