that vibration means its actually preparing for flight. moths like this cannot actually take flight until their wings reach a certain temperature so they have to run this sort of pre-flight warm up before they can go.

I just came to know that moths are nocturnal and they shivers to maintain the temperature of their bodies since nights are cool in the absence of Sun. Butterflies on the other hand are active during day so she have to just span her wings completely in the Sun. Both are four winged insects. But this moth looks very cute due to his outer scales. Should I just let it go? It's 45f but feels 38f. I had him outside with the lid off all day and he didn't leave. he was slow and cold but now an hour later he is ready to leave again. Should I just let him go out into the cold and die on his own tonight?
