Whoever commands the best and most soldiers gets the right to run the country. Look at Rome, for the most part, the Generals who became Emperor were some of the best. Oi! There'll be no pedantic tirading against the practice of contriving specific meanings of words in by-laws to elude the proper enforcement of the aforementioned by-laws in this comments section! Now cease your uncouth diatribe and reevaluate your views on the matter, lest you discomfit any more of our interlocutors with such drivel.

Reminds me of an old joke told by my grandpa Ike. Two old men talking about their grandchildren in college. One tells the other, "The boys and girls matriculate together! And they show each other their theses!" The second responds, "That does it. She's coming home right now!"

I imagine that if Hargreaves ran in the corridor and went over a hurdle, the case would be rather unambiguous that he was, in fact, hurdling. I think that the criteria for being ridiculous isn't being too broad or too specific, but not being clearly connected to a physical observation. "No snowboarding" is clear even though it's a rather specific instance of "going" Most of these words sound funny because of a combination of them being clearly untestable (the broader "thinking" is just as ridiculous as "contemplating") and being so uncommon (in any context) that the words sound sort of made up. I definitely didn't know anything about "sideling" before.
