Firstly NASCAR has stock car in its title but there really isn't anything stock about them anymore. The car on the track don't really represent what I can get at the dealership. Maybe I'm just being ignorant to the real benefit of racing expensive equipment and transferring what is learned to normal cars. Let's go back to how it started with normal cars (slightly modified) and see what they can really do. Secondly I keep hearing about budget series racing with rules like the winning car is available for purchase at a set price or trade by a competitor. If sponsors weren't involved, would such a concept work in NASCAR? It would definitely change how the drivers race on the track. Probably be more competition too.
