I feel like the audience , mostly privileged Kolkata dwelling middle and upper middle class, STILL failed to look at this historic shame through a broader lens. Its quite expected. Out of three people who asked questions , all of them exposed their politics through the questions they asked , exposing their narrow blinkered approach to such a catastrophe. One was more worried about defending a religious community and blaming another one, one was worried about blaming a political party and one was interested in passing the blame to Churchill. None of them were willing to look at themselves or analyses the role of their own class , or caste(as caste played a big role , many downtrodden castes were wiped out while upper castes survived), in this mass murder. A very typical of a class that was never held accountable and were allowed to exploit a colonial system to their advantage over the ages.

Class struggle- still the best way to explain some histories! Churchill + Capital resulted in the ultimate catastrophe for Bengal!

Bengal famine was a matter of as much shame for British colonialists as for the Indian business class and the rich or upper middle class..all of them ganged up together to exploit and starve the farmer and poor class of Bengal.

Kolkata's elites, intellectuals, politicians are still insensitive towards the needs of the poor of the rural WB....This is a distant observation but representation of the WB poor in media, literature etc. seems to be minimal.....
