Six years ago my filipina fiancé and other family members went there from Tagudin. Our time there was amazing at the resort. The experience was great loved the zipline too. I forget the name of the resort, but it had movie star statues and a cow that looked like Elvis lol. My fiancé was absolutely a wonder woman. We planned to go back this year but unfortunately she caught covid while on a trip to Yellowstone National Park. She died November 11, 2021. Gladys and her family taught me a lot about the filipino life, Gladys taught me how to cook filipino dishes which I will always cook. In fact I just made Ginisang Baguio beans with pork. MASARAP! .. I am forever grateful of having her and her family in my life for 13years. Love you videos. Keep up the great work Chef!

The original ingredients for Ilocos Norte Empanada is finely grated papaya (not cabbage), monggo, eggs, and longanisa. Cabbage is used in the empanada of Vigan, Ilocos Sur. From my recollection, the Ilocos Norte version of empanada was introduce more than 40 years ago in Laoag. Years later, Batac had its own using the same ingredients except for the longanisa. They used their own longanisa, one that is not stringed tied and a bit sweet. Back in the mid 70's then, Laoag was known for their empanada and Batac was known for their miki.

Nice vlog, I can’t wait to go home after this pandemic. I was born & grew up in Bangui & go home almost every year or so & I’m surprised that I only know of Kapuluan on all the places you’ve shown. I am a foodie but never heard of all the resto/places you’re featured. One of the genuine Ilocano dishes that we are proud of is the Ilocano Pinakbet. I wish that you can show that Next time you visit there. It’s always an in demand dish when we have a party here in LA. I always buy lobsters, sea crabs, & fresh 1st class seafood too that I like to cook & eat. I plan to put up a seafood grill resto someday in Ilocos. Hope to meet you when I visit Manila, Chef! Wish you all the best!
