i saw this in 2003, as a LAO for our equipment headed to iraq. we could not take photos, it looked cradled in coral...so sad. this is my first look at it as it was. thank you for showing me this view. I appreciate it

My Mississipi ancestors were part of the slave rebellion, but I hold with the yankee side of the family. I honor the Hunley and the 3 crews who died in her proving the possibilities of submarines. A few years ago I saw the Hunley in a preservation tank. i'm glad it's open to the public now. I hope to see it again soon.

Well from the historic point of view it does really matter because this sub was made of advance superior technology therefore now we all can learned of the designer his ideas & of his experiences that all combine in making it a reality of an offensive super weapon of its time then again learning something about the civil war it's great in this particular case about the individual sailors that went on fighting & took the risks of loosing their lives for what they thought was right then here raised the sub then cleaning it up even reconstructed it & then preserved it & passing all information to future generations have it's positive effect on the public .

Why save the Hunley? After all it was manned by traitors. Why give the crew a burial after all they were traitors. (Sarcasm)
