I always warned my daughter that if something doesn't feel right or the hair on the back of her neck raises to get away and to stay close to a group of people if she was alone. One late rainy afternoon, when she was 15 she was getting a bus, she walked pass the bus stop where there was nobody waiting, walked further to the bus stop where there was a group of older ladies. A man in a car stopped and offered her ride, she yelled No you're a stranger and old enough to be my father! The man hesitated then glanced at the other women at the bus stop and drove off fast. My daughter said all the ladies were holding their umbrellas and canes like weapons! They all asked her is she was she okay and that man was a bad man.

Apparently you can buy them from other inmates and gather up a collection to take. On several of the prison documentaries I've watched the prison staff mentions that it's a battle to even keep it down to the minimum that it is, that it's an everyday 24/7 mission to catch inmates.
