I didn't realise that this kind of skillet was a novelty for so many since it's by no means uncommon in Sweden. I'll will add the name and brand to the description if you're really interested in finding one for yourself. Cheers!

Simple dish but one of my absolute favorites. Getting severe cravings again! 🤤 Edit: My best frying pan at home mainly for meats is a De Buyer carbon steel pan. Carbon steel seems to really benefit the Maillard effect.

Oh and after the burn in there is no touchable, new coating. The burnt carbon particles from the oil set between spaces in the metal raster and thus making the pan usable.

Happy New Year to you from a warm and wet Malaysia. Nice to see you out and about again. Love the new skillet; something about the sheer practicality of the Skandi cookware👍. I've been using the Norwegian Eagle Products pan and kettle this last couple of years and they're pretty bulletproof although impossible to get out here, so I got mine from Ray Mears' Bushlore in the UK. Looking forward to your 2024 adventures . Take care and stay safe .........and warm ! ATVB 🇲🇾

Nice pan! I was looking at some of those pans the other day thinking I should buy one. If you're missing the cold, you can come visit me. I'm out camping in my RV this week. It was -18f/-27c last night and snowing 😂 it's 10f/-12c for a high today and I'm out in the sun cooking lunch on the Trangia 😂

Can you carve a removable wooden stop for the hollow end of the pan handle, to stop it scratching the pan? You could use a spurtle (its a scottish "stick" that you use as a stirring tool), though they may not be a thing in Sweden!
@RedswedeOutdoors
I've never heard of a spurtle before you mentioned it Sarah. I looked it up and ended up with a history lesson and the knowledge that there is a World Championship in porridge making, so now I absolutely have to make myself a spurtle. Maybe not right away and maybe not for the pan, since I've decided from the start to carve myself a proper handle for it when the weather turns more pleasant, but a spurtle is on my to-do list as of now. Cheers!

First of all, it's good to see you again after the holidays. Well I have been around a bit in my time and it was nice to see something new from you. That hunters frying pan looks a great bit of kit. Never seen one before. You had a little bit of an issue to begin but you can tell by looking at it that it will serve you well for years to come. It will be interesting to see if it works well with the trangia triangle also. Thank you again for another enjoyable video 😊

@RedswedeOutdoors
