"True Syrah is an acquired taste. It might be difficult at first, but then you become addicted to it." Couldn't agree more, Syrah is one of my favorite grapes, it's like a spicy assault that turns into a warm hug for your mouth. Great showcase of the Rhône, one of my favorite regions for its huge variety of wine styles.

Glad you picked that up. True Northern Rhone Syrah (and those who emulate it) are simply extraordinary. Unique, delicious, and age-worthy

Very well done! I'm a huge fan of the Rhone, especially the North. The descriptors you can get from Northern Rhone Syrah, especially with age, are so unique and mesmerizing. Nothing quite like it.

Months ago you teased that you had some Gigondas content coming! Definitely worth the wait. Both the Soithern and Northern Rhone hold special spots in my heart. The south was instrumental in broadening my horizons when I was a new wine drinker. I found so much value there, and because of that, I was able to explore different terrors more easily than other regions. Villages like Lirac, Vinsobres, Vacqueyras were important, but Gigondas cemented the region for me. So much so that my wife and I visited, choosing to stay in Gigondas. It was a tremendous experience. Eventually I began exploring the Northern Rhone, but don’t know it quite as well yet (still never had a wine from Hermitage). Even without having tasted the best of the best, it’s still my favorite region for Syrah. Love that you talked so much about Cornas. Great content, as always.

Wowzaaas thanks so much. The Rhône is an incredible place and you mentioned some great Crus. The Northern Rhône is an enigma to many bc of prices and low quantities but Crozes Hermitage is a way to jump in. Good luck in hunting down some Hermitage. Tough year for our Spartans too…

Recently, I did a few tastings on the Rhône valley amazing value for money. I did find myself leaning more towards the northern Syrah based wines, but a few of the Gigondas and CDP were very impressive.🥂

My favorite regions in France are Rhône, Loire Valley, Champagne Alsace, and Southwest. Bordeaux is overrated and Burgundy is overpriced. However, I’d take Italian wine over France but France has most of my favorite grapes. Why you gotta do this to me France. Start growing Chenin Blanc and Malbec Italy.

Hahahha there is some of each grape in Italy but I like if the country sticks to its local varieties in general heheheh. Nice selection of regions!
