My mom was on vacation and survived this alone. We aren't from an area that has this weather so I was scared for her. Thanks for the upload.

I had just turned 1. This hurricane destroyed my great grandmother’s trailer in Myrtle beach. Cool to hear the old low country accents.

My mom lived in Puerto Rico during Hugo. Luckily, her town wasn’t badly affected from what she told me

Hard not to forget this one. I was 13 and about 2am I'm being woke up by our trailer picking up and slamming down. We quickly decided to leave,so we drive not too far to a waffle house because my sister was working there. The windows in waffle house were breathing, I watched the Hardee's sign slam to the ground and then fly to the waffle house under my sisters car, then at Hardee's the playground just rolled into a field, back at our place it was fine, but several trailers were gone, next to trailer park were radio towers that all 3 were gone down the road. Most of the area was without power for 2 weeks but we had it the same day. It was interesting night for sure

I remember the eighties quite well. Big hair, big glasses, and shoulder pads. Good times.

I believe Hugo was more dangerous than Katrina

It was a lot stronger then Katrina and many other hurricanes , the problem with Katrina it wasn’t the wind but the Rain and the amount of water and the destructive storm surge New Orleans and Louisiana got during Katrina’s path

33:00 Dang! That bridge was literally torn loose and tilted sideways. If I would have first seen that bridge like that after Hurricane Hugo, my thoughts today would be winds sustained at no less than 350 mph with gusts topping 425 mph.
