Milton remains a powerful category 5 hurricane.
A large area is under some kind of tropical alert. There is a Hurricane Warning in effect for Okeechobee, Indian River and St. Lucie Counties. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Martin and Palm Beach Counties.
We expect to see gusty winds as we move through the day with the worst occurring overnight and into Thursday morning.
We are already seeing the outer bands moving across the state and heavy downpours will move through our area throughout the day. There is a Flood Watch in effect until Thursday morning.
There is a threat for a few severe storms today as well. It's common for a few spin up tornados to occur within the outer bands of tropical systems, so we are at a risk for seeing that during the storm.
