Your video helped so much, I’ve been working on a Portland 1750 psi power washer that was leaking, I’ve been at it for hours, if only I would’ve flipped that bushing around it would’ve saved me from headache, hours wasted, and my blood pressure… so I thank you.

This wand or gun as I call it is manufactured and sold under a variety of companies. Harbor Freight uses this type of gun on their Pacific Hydrostar and their Portland pressure washers. I see Bob K has his in a Huskey. The O-rings cost 79 cents at ACE. I still could not fix the problem, but I still use it, just where rubber boots for the leaking. Still has great pressure.

If the inner tubes were brass with "o" rings they would be 100 percent better. Seems on my Home Depot unit (Husky) the pressure goes down as soon as the handle starts to leak.

Thanks, for the video. I have a leaking Harbor Freight Portland pressure washer. Replaced the O-rings - same result - still leaking. Looked for hair like cracks (place all parts to one part of the housing, secure with some zip ties to the housing so the parts don't come out) - turned the water on (pressure washer off). Without the other half of the housing I could see the the fine cracks (water coming out) at the glue line of the large L part that connects hose to handle. Used JB Weld to seal, waiting for it to cure.

Hi Manfred, did your fix work? I have the same unit and have a bunch of water leaking out the bottom of my spray gun. I took it apart and put it back together as described. The O rings looked fine on mine and I made sure it was tight but still had the same problem. I don't see any cracks in the handle so I have no idea what's wrong. I used it only once last Fall without an issue. Stored it over the winter and now this. I should've bought a better one...

Hey I was curious is the pressure of the spring that goes inside the black piece where the hose hooks up strong enough to shut the water off at the trigger. I’m pretty sure that’s what the little tiny O-ring is for shutting off the water.

Great video for helping me troubleshoot... My Green Works washer wand is identical. But after replacing those #6 o- rings (found in a 10-pk at Menards for $2.27) the wand is still leaking. I've attempted to spray it with cover removed to see where the leak is, and still seems to be coming from that nylon bushings area. Would it help to replace eat bushing? Any other suggestions?
@bkuphal
7 жыл бұрын
I doubt it would be the bushing, i.e. the white plastic piece, unless it is cracked or something like that. I could be the little O ring, but if that leaked I would think the next O ring in line would trap the water.... Good Luck.

I'm not sure what else to try next. The old o-rings looked fine, but do they shrink or dry out slightly when they fail? I could buy a new wand from Amazon for around $25 but I'd really like to avoid that if this one can be repaired, as the new wand (all plastic just like this one) will probably eventually have the same issue.
@bkuphal
7 жыл бұрын
Well, in the video, that is/was my second wand, that is why I attempted to repair it, then did the same with the first wand that I saved for parts.. So the answer is, yes if you buy a new one, it will probably fail the same way. I believe the O rings basically wear down enough that they let the water through since each time you press or release the "trigger" they move in and out of the tube they are in. Any replacement O rings will eventually wear also with enough use. You could try a little larger O ring and see if that helps, by larger I mean the diameter of the rubber in the ring, not the overall diameter of the ring. O rings are classified not only by the overall diameter of the ring, but also the size of rubber itself.. Do some research on O ring sizes etc. etc.

Those might be rivets, I doubt you will get it apart then. One would have to drill out the rivets and then you need a rivet gun to replace them. Are you sure they just holes, and not multi-sided screws like a hex screw or more sides on it ?, look closely with a magnifying glass to be sure.
