Been using RedArmor at 50:1 in my OPE for years now, Stihl and Echo residential use, and it's definitely a clean burning oil that will clean out residue left by other oils. That tacky feeling definitely acts as a rust inhibitor for seasonal storage or even multi-year storage. I purged my equipment then sprayed a little unmixed RedArmor in all my OPE before I left my home for a multi-year CONUS mobilization, everything started up without issue after 4.5 years of sitting in my unconditioned storage shop in high humidity and heat. It was noticeably harder to initially pull over but once running it ran like it never skipped a beat. I am now giving Amsoil Saber Pro a try after watching your videos but I will keep the RedArmor on the shelf just in case.

Could you test Motul 710 at 40:1? In my experience and opinion one of the best. Very good film in the bottom end and clean burning. Here in Europe easy to buy, in stead of Red Armor, wich is difficult to find here. Grtz from Holland.❤

Sounds like a fun build and time. Use red armour with everything. Are there saw building classes on the web? I have occasionally been to EETC. thanks and take care.

I'm not aware of any. There's some good info out there and some bad. Start small and do some light modifications, i.e. timing advance and muffler mods. Learn how to re-tune after the modifications.

What are the "drawbacks" to the motorcycle oils that you speak of?
@richardflagg3084
4 ай бұрын
The bike oils, from a lubrication standpoint, are significantly better. Not all burn super clean. The Maxima 927 did not burn very clean even though it's probably one of the slickest oils available. It's more meant for racing and regular teardowns. HP2, H1R did well in both categories and the Motul 800 burned decently clean, but you'd have to keep an eye out for carbon over the long haul.

Very good. Yeah I've narrowed it down to the HP2 and H1R based on your findings so I assume either one would be excellent choices. The only other wildcard I can think of might be corrosion protection but probably good there too with the film they leave behind. @@richardflagg3084
