That won't make good firewood.. all those knots.. must be a logging out fit cuz the forest service puts limitations on wood cutting sizes.. I'm sure it varies from state to state, but in Oregon. U cud go to jail for cutting old growth, even a dead snag

Wow that was a big pine tree. Why did you guys cut it down?, only because it was dead?. The woodpeckers would have used it as a nesting tree for many years along with eating all of the insects which live in and on dead trees. Why cut it down?.

No woodpeckers in New Zealand. This is obviously a kiwi tree judging by the size..Have you ever seen a monterey pine that big?? I wouldn't imagine you have. Marti you should know dead trees rot out..My assumption is they cut it down cause it was a hazard.
