Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I have a Husqvarna blower that was new last season, always kept in my shed and had the same start issue. Would start on starter fluid and not keep running. I would have never thought the fuel was bad just from sitting the winter. I replaced it with some 50:1 pre mix and its running great. THANKS!

And the main problem with gasoline is the ethanol content, which could be another good reason why a leaf blower wouldn’t run correctly.

I did exactly this and my 2 year old o and it still won't start. It did not start at all with starter fluid so I suspected the spark plug or magneto. Plug is wet. Still nothing.

Good video and starting fluid is so bad for 2 cycle engines are it will dry up the piston and cylinder wall so when you go to start it it can cause engine problems, but it is only good to use on 4 cycle engines

Have you ever heard of K 100 fuel treatment ?? I buy that stuff by the case for my shop and my customers swear by it... I am the only one in town that sells it..... It's a fuel treatment plus it encapsulates water and makes the water burn..... If you have a legit business with a state and federal tax ID I can turn you on to the main guy at the main office... We sell a lot of it on the outboard part of our shop.... Boats with built in tanks make water in our humid climate down here in South Louisiana...... Let me know Mon Ami ....

Thank you Pat Cassidy. Try spraying some starting fluid in the carb throat and confirm that it will even run. If it doesn't do that then borrow or rent a compression tester and see what the compression number is. If its low there's not much else that can be done other than rebuilding the top end of the engine.

INSIDE HOUSE GARAGE great video buddy and nice fix. Thats a nice chunk of change on the resale. I usually start rejects @90 on 2 strokes but thats me. Actual starting fluid will get a start up @ a much lower compression reading due to it being more volatile but even a 91 octane is not enuff for "regular" start ups. That sounds confusing buy you know what I mean.

I have a new bt150 that i purchased this past spring. It's been working great, but it has been sitting for quiet for a few months. We had snow predicted, so I wanted to get the blower ready for the snow. It had very little gas in the tank, so I filled the tank with 50:1 mix and went to start it, but it wouldn't start. Thinking it may be flooded, I gave up and came back the next day to try again. it eventually started so I let it run at idle for about 5 minutes. Thinking it was good to go, I shut it down and waited for the snow. The snow came and my blower won't start. I did get it to start once and it ran for a few seconds before shutting down. I might mention that when I had it running the first time there seemed to be more than normal amount of exhaust smoke, and there is an oily deposit on the muffler. Any thoughts?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE

Sure. Next time try to start with wirh HALF choke, if it doesn't start then go to full choke. If it still doesn't remove the spark plug and look to see if the tip is wet with fuel. If its not wet then you have a carb problem. It's it wet then try starting it with no choke and have the trigger fully squeezed

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Thanks. I figured it out, but thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The problem was, in fact, a fouled sparkplug. Before checking the plug, however, I took off the spark arrestor and found the screen to be nearly completely obstructed. So I burned off all the carbon deposits on it and reinstalled it. It still didn't start. Then, as I was ready to throw in the towel, I got hit in the head with a 2x4! It dawned on me that I hadn't checked for a fouled plug. Sure enough! Cleaned it up, reinstalled it, and "walla"! It started! Now, the question is, "Why was the plug so fouled, and why was the spark arrestor screen so clogged up?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE

@@martyepperly5803 it's usually from two factors. One would you a fuel mix that's too heavy in oil. The other would be if you run the engine at part throttle a lot versus wide open. Part throttle use will coke up the engine with carbon.
