This fixed a 46cc craftsman, that had a hard start problem when hot since new. I rarely use this saw but along came hurricane Ida. I fought with the saw for a couple of days, then stumbled across this video. Installed the foil tape that night with very little faith that this would fix the problem, the next day and every day after the saw starts on the first pull when hot. Your tip reduced some of the frustration caused by Ida and Craftsman Thanks

I own the new version of the Poulan 42/18 and it's a fantastic saw. Before I even started it for the very first time I regapped the plug to 30 thousands and it's never gave me any trouble what so ever. Also my Poulan have never seen a drop of ethanol fuel, I only run premixed in it. I absolutely love the saw. I do appreciate your video thank you for sharing

@@cdee6096 I never had the hard start issue. Before I bought the saw I watched a ton of videos and read reviews, and everyone said about the hot start issue with this particular saw said they regapped the plug to 30 thousands and that fixed the issue. So before I even put it to a piece of wood and put fuel in it for the first time I did this. I've never had a single issue with this saw. I've had it now for about 3 years. I do maintenance regularly and pull the exhaust of and clean the carbon. I fix small engines also. Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. You got me as a sub. Keep up the good tips

If you push the primer bulb on that saw it will circulate fuel from the tank, through the carb, back to the tank. It will not flood your saw. It’s like that to cool the carb.

I appreciate the hundreds of people who have told me this helped them after much frustration with their saw. So to the very few people that complain about my intro- I say stick up your ass and don’t watch it. Don’t subscribe or watching anything on my channel. I don’t ask for subscribers on any of my videos. If you want to complain I prefer you leave my channel immediately and don’t use any of my advice. I have to disagree on the poulan comment . I bought a 38cc poulan new close to 20 years ago . It’s only use was a camping and truck saw, and then a firewood saw in later years . Now granted, it only saw occasional use in its first few years of life . Later on it cut 5-6 cords of firewood every year for several years to heat my house and that little poulan never missed a beat .. and it never once did not start.. even in -20 temps. I eventually retired it only because I wanted a bigger more powerful saw to meet the demands of my firewood needs . I upgraded to a husqvarna 555 . Great saw ! But the poulan is still around and runs great and has still never not started . My son now uses it as a truck saw and for camping and he has had no issues with it . I think a paid $179 Canadian for that little saw on sale . Man have I got my monies worth and then some . Lol

I started it made a minor adjustment and went to my test log. It did great. I left it running and put it on the bench to adjust the high idle so it would snap quicker on throttle up. The idle became eradic going high then I tried to adjust it down and it died. Then no restart. Has spark, compression is 118, and yes the spark plug is dry as a powder keg.

What’s that little button at the top? Is it supposed to be pushed in or out? I bought a used 450 yesterday and it was working fine until I hit the fence and the chain came off. Turns out I had to replace the chain cause it was damaged. Now it doesn’t want to start. I replace the spark plug and clean the filter and still no luck. What’s the next step I can do? Maybe you can help .
@cdee6096
2 жыл бұрын
The button on the top is to relieve the pressure on the piston when you start the engine. It makes it easier to pull the cord. Next- determine if you have spark on the plug. If so- take a little starting fluid and spray some in directly in the spark plug hole and install the plug. Give it a pull and see if it wants to start.
