I put the black dog skid plate and the Hepco and Becker crash bars on my 790. The black dog skid plate was a little hard to get on in the rear. The one thing I don't like about the crash bars is when the bike is on its side it now will rest entirely on the bars in the front with the front tire 4"-6" off of the ground. It is now much harder to pick the bike up.

Nice video. I really like HB stuff. I almost put their hand guards on my Africa Twin because they look so cool but ended up with bark busters. I have the the HB pannier racks and they are great. That headlight cover looks cool but I don’t think it is that practical. Looks like anything smaller than a golf ball could get thru. That’s why I went with Lexan covers from R&G. I think the white looks fine, it really pops. keep the great content coming

Hello, One of the reoccurring comments about the Norden are "wind buffeting", I found a youtube video from Dave Mac that found the plastic hand guards were causing most of the problem.. I do have the metal guards you show in this video.. but removed the plastic parts and yes it helps.. just wanted to share as you reach much more viewers.. possibly you can recommend a different plastic hand guard.. thank and I enjoy watching your videos!

I would really advise people not to use crash bars that bolt up to your engine block. I would rather damage the plastics instead of cracking the oil pan. The tank bracket (another mounting point for the crash bar) that is welded to the frame is not very strong. People have broken this part so mounting a crash bar there doesn’t seem like a good option. There are a lot of bikes out there benefitting from crash bars. This is not that bike.

Thanks for sharing the view on those handguards. Wondering if it’ll mess up/deform the handle bar main clamps during a semi had slam to the ground (like what happened to me with my DRZ/barkbusters, negotiating rut, lol). With my barkbusters the guard was solid; it just slightly shifted out of place. Here seems there’s pretty fixed/no room for play…soo something has got to give in such a scenario(?). Dunno. What do you think? I like them though. Pretty clean.
@DorkintheRoad
2 жыл бұрын
They're pretty sturdy, so I'm not super worried about them breaking or messing anything up, but the weakest link is probably the thin part that bolts to the top of the bar clamps, so I'd expect that go give before the clamps themselves.

@@DorkintheRoad Everything is a compromise. I went with the Cycra Pro Bend Ultra Hand Guard Kit for my 901. I like the look and coverage of the factory guards and was tempted to go with the H&B hand guards but where they look solid out where there are two bars it all goes down to one single round bar that will take the load in a hit and as you pointed out, a thin part that goes to bar clamp. I am a big rider. 6'5" with 37" sleeve and 37" inseam. I'm running a 1" riser and using most forward mounting position. Cycra kit still clears TFT display and windscreen. Even though I went a different route I really appreciate the videos and hearing what everyone is coming up with on a new bike.
