I had the time of my life that night. I twirled myself into the ground. What a great night of wonderful music, and amazing dancers! Wish I were there again right now!!! Dancesport was always a great place to go dancing. I never missed a Monday night there... Amazing!!! Will always thank the owner Paul Pellicoro for giving us so much music, love, and a place to show our stuff off!

Thank you...Thank you...Thank you Graziano for posting this truly historic clip. My heart is beating so fast with the urge to give it a whirl. I used to go to the 34th street loation where Boo Boo was teaching salsa and hustle classes. I made a cd for her to use at the studio with disco classics for days. I am a true hustle queen and proud of it. Too bad she wasn't in this video she is fierce dancing anything but it was so nice to see my dear friend Arte whirling it with so much gusto. He was a true pioneer as well as Eddie vega who I miss dearly. May they both rest in peace. I will never forget the days at Bonds and The loft where all the grat dancers whirled it like, Melvin, Butchy, Victor, Lisa, maria,Sammy, Kitty, Arte, Eddie, John and so many others. This clip is at least 20 years old, maybe older based on the fabulous classics playing. I still have over 900 record albums and my turntable and love to dance at home by myself. I used to be one of those spinning queens that could'nt get enough. I recorded all the performances of Arte and Eddie on Star Search and was so happy when Eddie and Lisa won. I had the pleasure of Hustling with the greats and will never forget those wonderful memories. Graziano you made my night and I know that I will dream of those days tonight when Disco's ruled in NYC. Disco's might have died off somewhat but the Hustle will NEVER DIE! Wilfredo from the boogie down bronx.

What a great video. Really brings me back to those hustle years where we all enjoyed ourselves as "one". Notice...no damn cell phones in people's hands...just straight out good times without texting and ignoring those whom we came to party with. Thanks for the memories👍

What a fabulous clip! Loved seeing the "hot boxing" as it was called in Detroit. I had a blast hot boxing there in the 80's when I was traveling and it was another hustle capital as it still is. Too bad the club scene dropped off but it's still done there enthusiastically in the dance community, now mostly in studios. I will watch this again and again!❣💕Wonderful dancers!

Graziano Boggiani LATIN HUSTLE MAN Yeah, I couldn’t wait so I called My Friend Peter. He is featured in the video I sent him the link to the video. That’s when DanceSport was located in the Lincoln Center area. I’m a DS student but I took classes when Paul moved the studio to 34th Street. I saw Paul dancing in your video. Your featured dancer Luis Rosas perished in a car accident last year. Very tragic. We miss him so much. Many of the dancers there are personal friends so it was great that you shot this video. Historic document of the NYC Hustle scene. Thank you. 👏👏🙏🙏

There are some notes about it above. Aside from those, the video is FULL of extremely high energy dancing, exquisitely well executed. Some of the world's best Latin hustle dancers in the room. The very first leader is Louis Rosa. leading Lawrence Rush, both are gone the last couple years. Artie Phillips in the black hat at 13:00, also gone. It would be hard to duplicate that video today.

I remember him dancing on the Soul Alive Disco TV show on channel 11 in 1978. I was glued to the TV every Saturday at 12noon right after Soul Train. As a matter of fact, the clip of Soul Alive here on You Tube is the one Miguel's in that I remember watching in 1978!!!!! He won that contest on that episode. However, I remember there was an another episode with Eddie Vega hustling in the Hustle contest and Miguel was in that same contest....well...if you know Eddie Vega...you know how that contest turned out. That Soul Alive episode like many others got erased as the engineers were recording over the pre-recorded tape. Luckily, someone found the full Soul Alive episode that's up on You Tube where Miguel won the contest. I don't know how old the video here is but comparing this one to the Soul Alive video Miguel's in from 1978 he looks exactly the same.

@@clubhead433 Omg...Soul Alive! I remember that disco show with the host Jerry Bledsoe. I'm sure dozens of those original film clips are probably stored somewhere. With today's digital HD transfer/cleaning and all...they should take them out of the vaults and air them again...either on KZitem or any cable channel willing to show them just like we watched them back in the mid 70s. However...with everybody wanting money, record licensing fees and all...I doupt it. Very sad.
