Sean that bike is beyond Rad! The wheels and tires really do give it an old school feel to it. Great job on the add ons.

How much did you pay for your j? BD pedals. I paid a $180 when they originally came out in like 2012. But the original ones from the 80s are over a $1000. But I know you have a reproduction ones?? And the jbd cranks?@RadBMXBuilds

If it were a pre-85 Hutch that had been sitting in the rafters the whole time, would you have rode it? Would it be the most valuable BMX in the world? I enjoy the channel. So this bike has the same kind of fork threads as an old school? Seems like the cranks have a smaller bracket size... You probably want to be really alert, I heard that everyone is going to be selling stuff due to the economy.

I have a pre-serial 1980-81 Hutch pro racer, I've had put up for yrs. Does is hurt the value to clean them up and make it Shiney again? I was actually thinking about selling it? I've seen people who sell just random antiques say it hurts the prices of items.

@dyna_zero0385

@KithEsq your Hutch is probably one of the last frame & forks sets built by Thruster BMX bikes ( Speed Unlimited) in Wayne NJ. Some time around 81 I think is when Hutch decided to build their own bikes & parts before that Hutch contracted Thruster to build their frames & forks and other companies to build other components like MCS , Profile. Here in NJ back then we had all the big name brands , Mongoose, Diamondback but most guys had a Thruster ( Vanishing Point / Tri-Power ) or a Hutch , know a couple of guys I grew up with went to the Thruster factory witch was across the street from my fathers job and brought their Hutch , ordered it and went back a week or 2 later to pick up their built Hutch.

It's a very nice bike, but i guess I disagree on the serial number dramatically increasing its value . If this were a 1980s-era, it would be different. Just my opinion. I actually ordered a candy apple red Trick Star with all of the same exact parts you have. I never built it, though. It's still wrapped up. Anyway, I am going to sell a NOS 1987 Hutch Pro Racer frame and fork set in its original box, never built.
@RadBMXBuilds

I disagree because I did sell it and they paid more because of the serial number
@ScreamAndFly

@@RadBMXBuilds There's nothing wrong with that. As with anything, its value is a perceived by the buyer. Everyone has an opinion on that, just as we both do. John DeBruin has done a fantastic job of resurrecting the Hutch brand and the workmanship on the new-generation Hutch products is incredible. I realize that low serial numbers get some people excited, and that's fine, but I tend to think that comes into play further down the road. Remember when Profile released their anniversary box cranks back in 2007 or so? I mean, the first time, when they were limited to 100 sets or whatever it was. I have the first serialized set of those, but I don't think that ultimately matters, especially since those 'limited edition' cranks would end up going into normal production later. But I'm sure that would be important to some collectors. I have been out of the BMX collecting game for a long time, but I still have storage units full of NOS frames and parts from the 1980s, and I have no clue what people consider important these days.

If those were the original cranks and original stem. And original pedals. Then you're talking a lot of money but obviously it's a reproduction correct
