Hey, just found and subscribed to your channel. Great idea with the string, I put a length in my tool bag after watching this, going to try it on my next alignment, thanks!

Yeah works good man and the best part is that is dose not take any more room in the bag to carry around. I also use my tape measure if I happen to miss place the string any straight edge will work but I just found the string to be the easiest. Thx for watching!

Just a couple of thoughts. That Carrier model was built with a weak mounting system that made it impossible to effectively tension the belt. Upon operation, the mount would flex. You could see the mount flex when the motor was started. Thus the "fix" from Carrier. There is no way a belt would last as long as it should. It also looks like the driver was worn out from the looks of the existing belt. The drivers wore out early because of belt slippage. GFM

It’s a honor to have you comment on one of my videos grayfurnaceman and yes I agree that design was poor to say the least they would eat through belts and keep belt manufacturers in business

The pulleys are mismatched. A deep pulley on the motor with the belt sitting in the bottom of the pulley. The fan pulley looks like the right size with the belt sitting in the machined 'V' groove.

The blower side pulley is fixed width, but the motor side pulley is a variable width. Can we really align pulleys with a string method? Thanks,
