Dielectric grease for electrical connections to prevent oxidation, electrolysis, and crustiness. Never-seize/anti-seize on fan shafts and stuff to prevent rusting and corrosion so they are much easier to remove the next time. One thing I saw that would make an electrician cringe is the lack of a grommet where the electrical wires passed through the metal housing.

Imagine how much drier you'd be if those boxes weren't sitting in a puddle, under the edge of the roof, next to a box used to poison rodents? How much cleaner it would all stay. Less water and No mouse turds sounds like a much better place for a Tech to work. Instead you hand us an Umbrella? I hope you made it out of metal while making metal shavings stick to it, and orient it's hardware so it attracts to the piece I have to take off to Remove Sticks from Inside the Box, so I can move it six times before I walk away. That doodad is gonna lay on the ground when the rain falls any which way but Down, so don't forget your raincoat. aka insulating layer. Stop rubbing your finger in mouse dust, and ignoring what color the tops of caps get when they get urinated on. Or that this is where the mice live that the homeowner is trying to kill, while attracting it there with shelter and fresh Water. umbrella my backside

I'd give a quote to the owner to move the Condensers further from the house, and a second Copy they could send to the Builder of this Shack. They could also send their Pest Control bill with it. There is no excuse for putting Equipment under the edge of a Gutterless Roof. They Hired Installers that considered Bare Minimums to be adequate for all applications. This environment, by design and laziness, created a home for mice, and a poor work environment for anyone tasked to service it and the equipment itself. Having to watch this is nearly as painful as telling my neice how much I Love the Lego Hat she made me, while wearing it.

After a few videos watched on Anti DIY HVAC, I have brand new capacitors for the condensing unit and blower fan in the attic in stock and ready just in case. 33 years and both capacitors are still working on our Amana HVAC. Apparently, the industry made good capacitors the older they were made ! Many say these days you should expect a new one every 5 years. In any regard, we're ready for the most inconvenient time of the year that one fails. 5 units on that house is awesome...Initial cost is higher but its very cool to be able to use just one or two or all 5 alternating "as needed" vs. a couple of 5 ton energy hogs flipping on and off multiple times a day, if I'm correct on that. Last time I looked, the 5 ton vs. 4 ton used much more power. Much more than a 3 ton vs a 4 ton which told me to use a 3 ton with a 2 or 3 ton, not a 5 ton due to the operation cost. This is a good video...its nice to come across a homeowner who wanted OEM parts. It's still Vietnam made but at least it fit like a glove as the original. 600 amps to power up that home? Oh my, 200 of that is likely for just the 5 A/C when they are all running at the same time ! Hope the electric rates are low, like 4 or 6 cents a kWh.

Nope I am wrong about units not having the 36" clearance in front of the 2 disconnects. Looked like they did not first minute of a well produced vid. I'm a sparky but find the AC & refrigeration vids interesting. Worked in large maintenance shops and if Refrigeration guys were busy would call a sparky to see if maybe it was an electrical problem we could help out with. Would change out condensor fan motors and contacters. Started replacing 480 volt single phase fan motors with more reliable three phase motors. Never had to worry about a bad capacitor. If unit was for an important area like a computer room would use the next size up contactor so they last a lot longer. Think all OEM contractors are garbage. Best to use a quality contacort such as Square D or Allen Bradley.
