Looking at this concept of "employee ownership". No Hy-vee in my area. But some other store. 401k absolutely is Not "employee ownership". They also have smthg called an "S Corporation employee stock ownership program (ESOP)". Which I'm not familiar with. As I said, this other company claims employee ownership. But it seems to me, ownership would include being able meaningful participate in decisions as to how the company is run, with most say at the store one works at. Not just profit sharing. And not just a benevolent shift manager asking for your opinion on smthg.

It appears you know very little about Hy Vee.

employee ownership doesn't mean the employees make decisions. the employees own a % of the company. practically a bagger can't make store decisions

@@GamespikeTV why couldn't they?

@@wankertanker1813 it’s not that they couldn’t. However, there is a difference between ownership stakehold, with enough stock to make a difference in company decisions, and deciding to do the right thing to help a guest. In fact, the employees are told to “act like you own the place”, because if they participate in the 401k, they do own company stock.

@@jonkrispeterson6678 I'd say currently there is a range of models or possible models of what employee ownership is or could be. Smthg like making decisions about how things are run might entail some sort of department meetings, maybe voting on who should be a department manager. Stuff like that. Maybe being elected dept manager one yr at a time, only two yrs in a row. And maybe not more than three yrs out of five.
