When I lived in Long Island I became friendly with a gentleman by the name of Marc Marrone. He owned and still owns a bird store named, Parrots of The World. He sold and bred birds. He had 2 Hyacinths he kept with him in the store. They were friendly and gorgeous. They were his pets. I also remember he had two pat laughing jays, also called gray jays. He used to warn customers not to set car keys or open purses on the counter and walk away. The jays would steel them as soon as the owner turned their back and bring them to the top of a very tall cabinet. Marc would have to bring out a ladder to get to the stash. I loved those birds. They both also talked. Marc also had a pet show on tv. I think it was called either, The Pet Sow or Pet Keeping With Marc Marrone. Don’t know if it’s still on.

They are rare, they need to be able to nest and have babies for conservation. They are gorgeous, I don't want to imagine a world without these beautiful creatures

How cool! I've limited myself to parrots, for obvious reasons, but some other birds look amazing and do incredible things, like the crows. How cool that he had pet Hyacints! Must have been an awesome bird store!

Yes. He’s still located in Rockville Centre. He was good friends with Martha Stuart. In fact he took care of her dogs for her when she went to prison. At the time she had 2 Chow Chows!
