I’m sitting here chuckling at your uncle’s enthusiasm about not having to use that rubber piece. It’s funny watching other people’s family and how they get along. JD looks as aggravating as any other brand I’ve seen. Blue, green, red, don’t really matter.

Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. Been in Murcia, Spain since late Feb no rain at all. Country in drought..

We have now had 2" of rain in the last 3 days so that will help our drought some.

Ii’s because there is rust or dirt in the ring groove. I learned the hard way.

Rebuilding my cylinder from a JD 770 Compact. Thanks for explaining the orange ring. What a pain in the ass. I still prefer threaded end caps, with wrench flats. This design sucks.

This is why surge protectors and lighting rods are useful . its odd no fire because normally a lighting strike hits and you have a fire . has for the transformer their fused so if struck the fuse blows and transformer goes but beyond that a lighting strike should travel to the ground and disapate its energy if the ulity pole has a grounded wire . if lighting strikes your electrical panel odds are youll need to replace it along with the meter and mast and possibly the main entrance wires because chances are their damaged the power company usually will inspect their wires for damage right up to the entrance mast or meter socket after that a certified electricen should inspect the panel and all the wires because lighting is a way higher voltage than the 7.200 volts traveling on each phase of overhead wires . im actually shocked only the transformer went usually lighting strikes a pole and blows several transformers and switches not just one but at least 3 or 4 in a row it could blow 2 in either direction .

I just removed the inside snap ring, way easier. When you tap that collar down into the cylinder use wood instead of that chisel, harder to marr up important surfaces with wood

Hey fellas what size socket did you use to release the piston from the rod? 26 or a 28 mm?

Good video. Does this piston and cylinder control the up/down axis or pivot on the bucket? Mine is leaking down on the pivot axis.

If I recall correctly this was the cylinder on the bucket pivot.

Can you please post what the part number on the bag was for the orange ring you inserted to get the cylinder out. Thank you Dan

Easier way is fill the groove with plaster of Paris. Then remove after

When I saw you struggle with the Deere hydraulic cylinder I was thinking, why don't you strap it to the skid steer and lift the boom to pull the rod out. Not sure why they use that silly snap ring system.

I had to lay in bed one night to come up with a better plan, hence the reason for attaching between the 2 hitches of the pickups.

Why should you have to put a new ring in to get the ram out?

Hey so did it end up fixing your leak, went through this same exact thing, broke my fitting, rewelded it, now I’m leaking. I thought the seal would be at the other end of the cylinder while I welded.

Worked great for me thanks. I ended up hooking the end of the rod to a ratchet strap between two poles in my barn, popped it out with quite a bit of pressure

JD really did a terrible job on these cylinders and the whole snap ring removal idea. Obviously the input for that design was from someone who had never touched a hydraulic cylinder before.

the reason it did that to your uncles roof is because lightning actually comes from the ground to the sky not from the sky to the ground.

That design from JD is just another reason JD sucks.
