That's what I loved about my rivers. The change every year after the winters and spring runoff. LedHed 🎶 🎸 🎹

@mike - Yea it really is a neat place. It was 30 feet deeper & packed with tailings about 15 years ago. Cali rivers are cleaning themselves year after year. The sluice box that we cleaned out in part 6 got washed away last summer & nothing is left from what we did at all. Everything is gone. There were 2 more flash floods that took it out. It's a real dangerous place all year if we get a heavy rain upstream. I've seen an 8' wall of water come crashing through that canyon in just a few seconds.

Great video my mining brothers! I like what you have to say about mercury, it's all true. But you're preaching to the choir. You have to get this message to the holy-than thou out there that get in their steel, fossil fuel vehicles, drive down a tar and gravel paved road, to a wood and concrete built hotel on the side of the river, and point their finger at you and me and tell us what we are doing is wrong. Keep on mining. I know I am.

Would you please tell me how exactly you are capturing the mercury? Is it getting trapped in the sluice boxes carpet or miners moss? In the river is it usually found on the bedrock? If the bedrock is only several feet down could you use a hand suction device like your five footer to pull it out? If you cover this in part three no need to answer. Than you for the info. I will hope many others begin to help clean up our rivers also, as there will never be an agency or organization that will. It's up to each of us. Thanks again.

If you look at the undercurrent system in my "How to build a Gold Dredge" video, it shows my sluice and riffle systems. The undercurrent box is the real key to catching the mercury.

Its really amazing to see this river/creek in the different video's and see how its changed with every high water. All those HUGE rocks are moved out... Un-real the power of the water...

i worked as a nozzleman at an alaska hydraulic gold mine in the early 90s. 2-cat d343 engines with 12"warman slurry pumps. pretty beasty. They had one pump w/12" line feeding up to 7 1-7/8"monitors & windguns. These would blast the side of the mountain 24hrs a day by me & my buddy jaime schwartzwald. The water & slurry would run down to another pump that would suck it up & pump it to the beginning of a 2000'X40' settling pond and would be clear by the time it reached the other pump. I bet we found 2 truckloads of dinosaur bones. Hell i even found a complete mastadon skull! with teeth!!! Then i found 2 14' curled tusks! Coolest job ever.

Being that you're a "tree hugging hippie", (I'm assuming a leftist) please don't take this the wrong way, but today we have more information at the tips fingers then anytime during history, and you will find that whenever the media, politician, or wacho environmentalist group claim one thing, do your research and in most cases you will find out that they are full of shit! Example, the entire basis for the "Trump-Russia Collusion" delusion was based on the "Dossier" that allegedly hired hookers to pee on a hotel bed before Obama stayed in that room.. Seriously that was the ONLY evidence that was ever found for all the hype and tax money spent! That has been all exposed as BS!*

Hi Dave 8°), Yea that's the plan sorta. I don't have a hydroforce because I talked myself out of it for now because I have an extra 9hp/ HP500 with a firehose, hehe. Just a little more water than the hydroforce so I figured that we would try this first and then if it doesn't pan out a 4"hydroforce style is easy to make. We will be babababoooming soon enough, lol.

Now that's a good question & there was a handful of silver coins & pennies but I don't remember how much. We found $11.67 in coins in another hole on the Yuba one time & I still have that jar of coins sitting here. But I have only found a few rings while dredging in the places that I go over the years & that was about it. I've found plenty while detecting. Then I also found plenty of toys. I still have all of the toys that I ever found & a 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial coin that I cherish 8°)

@ReedLukens As a bonus, you can re-work the area so many times because it keeps bring and taking material away all the time. What part of the Country are you in? (State?) I can't recall.. Looks like Cali or Colorado?

You talk about removing trash from other people a couple years ago a game warden said he was going to write me a warning for the trash I had in my boat ( a 5 gallon bucket over flowing) I told him I would not accept a warning if he wanted to give me a ticket for picking up other people's trash I would fight it. Some people will always fight you if you try to do good.
