I’ve read the comments on forums from these same people claiming more smoke on startup. And, yeah, enough said..

It's that the smoke stops after it starts is most important to me.

It sounds like the tractor is actually quieter with the turbo on it. I can understand why it would be, is that your perspective too?

I think with the turbo and the bypass it might be the same or slightly louder. With the DPF, it's quieter and the tone is different. It sounds very smooth.

Any engine with a mechanical injection pump will smoke at startup, unless it has a DPF installed. The governor is in full fuel position until the flyweights bring it back to idle after it initially cranks and starts. Completely normal, and will always happen.

Thanks for calling that out. What I'm unsure of without doing some testing is whether adjusting the fuel screw has an effect on the total amount of fuel allowed into the plunger when the throttle is at low idle. My assumption is yes and while it will technically create more smoke if that is true, I think it's immaterial to the smoke because of what you said. Most of that is coming from the excess fuel from the governer being "balls in"

That's exactly correct. The fuel adjustment is simply the rack limit stop. Its at that limit stop when the engine is off, and only the governor can bring it off of that stop. Completely normal and inconsequential to how it operates normally. Its a very very small byproduct of tuning a mechanically injected engine. Under load is where we care about the smoke.@@HydrosPlus

I should clarify, it wont affect the amount of fuel inside the plunger/helix at low idle when the engine is running. The governor is ultimately controlling how much fuel it gets when the engine is loaded. The rack stop only adjusts the amount of rack travel the governor is allowed to permit when the engine is loaded. At low idle, elevated idle, or even wide open throttle unloaded, the rack stop has no influence. Only at engine shut down, and under heavy load where the RPM drops is where that stop has influence.

It’s more so than that with indirect injection it will always fucking smoke on start up by design

That's literally what I just explained. If you read my explanation, you will know WHY that happens. Also, Not every indirect injection system works this way, so that statement is incorrect. There are different types of injection pumps, and they can work differently in how theyre governed, and how the fuel amount is metered.@@GoGoggansGo

I have found with my stock 1025R at cold start up in my garage if I cycle the glow plugs twice it smokes a lot less so that's what I do no matter if it's winter or summer.

I have to ask what about having the exhaust pipe go to vertical stack?
